I'm looking at booking a cheap holiday. 16th Jan for 2 weeks, I went last year for the last week of March and first of April and the weather was perfectly fine.

I've just had a look and it states 17 degrees which doesn't sound hot at all, yet March/April is only 21 degrees and that was brilliant weather, nice and hot and long days.

Anybody live in Cyprus or near it or experience the weather at that time of year?

Going last 2 weeks of Jan instead of March/April cuts the cost of the holiday in half so that's why I'm considering - Just got back from 1 week in Ibiza and that was fine weather.

January is winter April is spring.

Also lots of sites state Average temperature which means somedays it could be 12 somedays 22...
monthly averages are useless when deciding when to take a sun holiday.

Obviously.

I was thinking though, last week of Jan and 3rd week of March are not exactly miles apart, easy way to save a few hundred quid by putting up with a few cloudy days and a few degrees less - but 17 sounds a tad too low...

Why not go somewhere else instead? Morocco might be worth a look at? I've been to both, and they aren't dissimilar and should be a wee bit hotter.

I'm happy to go else where, not set at all.

I did look at the Canery Islands as I've been before and like it and they are further south but the price was more expensive there.

Just as a rough guide 2 weeks, flights, b&b and transfers in Cyprus ina hotel I've stayed in before and liked in the middle of Limassol is £250~, Tenerife same time is £480~, Cyprus in March/April is £450~.

Just looking and can get the same deal flying out there on 30th Jan, February looks exactly the same as January just with a little less rain.

Feb v April
Average High 18 v 23
Average Low 9 v 13
Rain Days 6 v 4

Doesn't look that much different for the saving of £200~ on a cheap holiday.

Jan is winter, lots of rains and storms, very changeable.

You know you can going skiing in Cyprus. If I was going to Cyprus in jan I would take my skis and also a surf-board + wet-suit.

Much as I love Cyprus, it is changeable at that time of year, and is quite expensive in relation to other Med countries.

I suppose it depends on what you require from a holiday, Cyprus is great in Winter/Spring, you can ski (hopefully) and then spend a few hours on the beach until mid-afternoon when it cools quickly.

But places like Tenerife are a lot warmer and you can laze by the sea/pool most of the day.

I live out in Cyprus so feel the cold more than holiday makers, but coming from the UK for a week or two it will still feel pretty warm to you.

Guess Cyprus is out of the picture for this time of year then, so basically spec me a sunny 2 week break somewhere that is cheap.
