Things to see and do in this country of ours.

Scotland is not Edinburgh, you might as well go to almost any English town to see Edinburgh and buy the local tat sold there. I love Edinburgh but it's dripping with tourists and is almost entirely set out to play up to the stereotype of Scotland that makes most Scots cringe with embarrasment. If you want to see Scotland get out of the lothians and further north or west.

A good starting point is Stirling, from there you can decide if you fancy heading to Glasgow and on to Fort William or go into the Trossachs.

:She says she really wants to see Liverpool . God knows why... Probably wants to experience being mugged, and having her proverbial wheels stolen...

Liverpool is one of the best cities I have visited. Excellent city centre, equally good night life and the people are good crack.

Try rural Northumberland and stick Newcastle upon Tyne for a visit also if you can. Excellent city to visit. There are some excellent Roman ruins in the north east as well with sections of Hadrian's Wall still standing.

Well, if that's what she wants, she could always visit... erm... any city in our fine country.

Cambridge, old and impressive colleges, sorted. Although she probably won't be too impressed about the prices here!
