Hi Guys, please excuse my ignorance - been out of the loop for a while...

Last time I was building a pc was 4 years ago and I remember everyone was warning against getting a certain brand of PSU but I can't remember what it was. I think it was a short brand name and I'm considering the OCZ ModXStream 700w. Was it OCZ that I was being warned against does anyone know? Does anyone have any ideas what this PSU is like?

Im thinking of getting the XFX 650w myself, loks fantastic but what about the inside - I hear that they are actually made by a psu maker called seasonic.

Ive just done some research and it seems seasonic make some pretty expensive and descent psus.... so why make them for xfx? are they just rebranding their cheaper ones i wonder? HHHmmm.... sounds fishy
 
Anyone got any views on seasonic? Also what about XFX's returns policy, theres no mention of a return/warranty on the 650w.... is that because there isnt one? I see OCZ and others are doing like 7 year waratnies

Seasonic make designs for loads of other manufacturers (Corsair/Antec for example)

seasonic are good
go for the 750 watt xfx not 650
i believe it is also 80+ certified
and it will last you for long time
whats your budget
if you can get a seasonic one
then get a seasonic rather an xfx
and look for 80+ gold certified if you can stretch

and GTX260's sell for more than £50 so you would have to put your hand deeper into your pockets cheapskate.

i understand about the MM
i said what i said because not so long ago i made a thread and someone else pointed out something that you did but they meant it in a way as to have a dig at me and my posts.
i referred your comment to way back then when someone else said what you said
however you meant it in a totally different context

yeah that techy review seemed to make it quite good, very promising. But wtf no overvoltage protection?? it burned?!? i thought all descent power supplies had that feauture?

I remember when i resodered a dodgy xbox 360 controller reciever, plugged that in and my mobo said "overvolt detected - shutting down in 15 seconds to prevent damage" (my comp did freak out for a bit after though, and psu fans seemed noisy for 10mins (i have a 450w hiper type r which has served me VERY well, and looks better than anything on the market today))

Would this PSU do the same thing, or does not having overvoltage mean your mobo wouldnt pick it up?

Also, would it mean if you plugges in too much GPU power and other stuff, it would burn out?
