With the Extra length/size of the Gainward I think if I ever wanted to go sli on my P6X58D-E it would be near impossible but with the extra cooling on it should improve overclock.

So what are your opinions>?

Just from observation.

The gainward looks like it has better cooling...

Also with it being 'good edition' surely that means the core has been cherry picked for good overclockability?

Personally I would go for the Gainward.

The gainward maybe quiter as well??

The Gainwards cooling solution does look a lot better, using a gigabyte 470 here, runs pretty hot and the stock fan is rather loud.

TBH the reference cooler on the 470/480 is rather poor, on my 5870 you could feel the air flow fast out the back of the card with 40% fan, the 480 at 80% is hardly pushing any air out the back, getting one of these next week.

Had a look at that cooler as well, looks decent. Temps are hitting 85c on auto fan speed, manually set it to 70%, drops down to 70c ono, but the noise is a bit much, thank god i use noise cancelling headphones when gaming.:D

No overclocking yet, just installed the card a few hours ago. Spent a while playing mw2 and moh to test it out.

Its all about the cooling, nearly all 470s are capable of 800mhz+(I say nearly, there are some bad clockers) just a matter of which has good enough cooling to run it. I would say check the reviews on the custom cooler models.

No difference yet mate, but ill be overclocking the 470. Never bothered clocking the 275's.

Ive been looking at getting one but just seen that the OCUK value ones are incredible value might go crazy and get 2 for sli:p.

I reckon I could maybe get back the price of one card by selling on my 280's

Sounds like a good idea chris, theyre certainly good value, and as you say, selling the 280's will cover the cost of one. Ill probably add a second 470 in a few months time, (possibly even a second hand one), price depending, my 275 sli setup was nice but i fancied a change to a DX11 card.
