All my friend have migrated so facebook chat, I hate the damn thing, and I barely use fb anyway. But no one is ever on MSN any more. Always sign in to the same desolate contacts. Random rant. Anyone else found this?

Yeah same. i find facebook chat awful. MSN needs some form of innovation to convert everyone back. Not to sure how they could do it...microsoft have got abit lazy

Same. Maybe when some new fancy social networking site comes along, probably offering more privacy than Facebook does.

Good luck waiting on that... FB chat kinda sucks but then I thought MSN had been dead for a while now. I abandoned it a couple of years back when it got hit by a boat load of email viruses.

I realize now FB chat suffices for the short periods I'm not texting/calling someone or not with them physically.

Im noticing this too. I barely use facebook, only to check it every so often.
In person, telephone, skype, msn, steam is good enough i dont need another utility for communication. Plus facebook is a pretty limited communication tool compared to the others out there.

You can link your Facebook and MSN(well, Windows Live Messenger) and chat away in that client if you so wish now. Leaves you signed in ready for chat like MSN does.

Oof, I have no idea how to do that. I'll have a ganders on google and see if i can figure it out. Thanks

they should have made msn a browser plugin so it sits at the bottom like facebook chat, i guess firefox etc wouldnt want to allow it though

I had no idea until the other day whhen MSN updated itself, then asked if I wanted to link to Facebook, which I did, now my contacts appear in there, and I'll get notifications via MSN if they message me, quite handy really.

Yeh I'm not really sure why this is bothering people so much. I don't use Facebook chat, if I want to talk to my friends I'll meet up with them or give them a call...

Is this just a generic whining thread about people doing things differently (although yes, fb chat is horrid), because if people want to use that, then let them. It's not affecting my conversations with people.

Definitely. My version is only 2009 so I'm guessing I'll have to download a new client because it isn't prompting me to upgrade

total bummer.

If you're on a Mac, Adium also integrates with Facebook chat. However, I found that I always have it open in a tab, so its actually quicker to just go there and reply rather than opening multiple chat windows. That said, FB chat is dire and near-useless at times.

I find FB quite dangerous, seems an awful lot of bored housewives gossiping and spreading all sorts of malicious stuff, I know of at least one marriage gone down the pan due to FB happenings!!

most people speak such rubbish on facebook... one of my wifes friends makes out shes in a 3year relationship when shes clearly not...

i hate how people post status updates just to get people to inquire into whats going on or what it means aswell...

some of my wifes friends talk about whats happening on jeremy kyle on there status and omfg i just want to tell them to get a bloody job pushing out a kid doesnt mean you can sit at house all day stuffing your face and watching TV... especially when your kids are teenagers and you havent had a job since they were born FFS! (single parents its not like they have a husband suporting them)

Just updated MSN which made me think of this thread. MSN when updated now allows you to connect through facebook. I get all my FB updates and FB chat through MSN... winner

Being that 'everybody' uses Facebook it'd be nice if the chat function worked properly.

FaceBook is full of people trying to feel important, or if not important trying to be popular. The whole thing is alien to me and i despise it. Just looking at people commenting on things they have no interest in purely to look 'cool' is just odd. Steam chat and msn is always better.
