lol, i love the way you have thrown in the nokia 3510 in that list, did that even have a colour screen?

Well, the N900 (my most recent Nokia) seems very well built. Its a slider though so somewhat hard to judge, it felt better quality than a Milestone.

The N8 felt solid too but I've only had a very brief look at one. In fairness, HTC phones do feel well built, but they often have little niggles.

Very tempted by the Ominia 7....

£130.00 plus £25.00 per month for 300mins Unlimited texts + Internet is looking very tempting with T-Mobile but it's 24 months.

£130.00 plus £30.00 per month for 300mins Unlimited texts + Internet looks good at 18 months! Means I wouldn't have to wait AS LONG for an upgrade....really don't know what to do here haha!

Can get around £150 recycling my old phone and about £80 through Quidco....leave me with about £100 to pay to Vodafone but they have seriously ****** me off :p

Seriously tempted to do so :D

Well that definitely concludes the HTC build quality debate then.;)
You're obviously an HTC fan.. At any rate think I'll be going for an HD7 or Desire HD a tough choice.

If I am to be branded a "fan" I would say I its more of OS than hardware. The best Winmo devices (up to now certainly) have almost always been HTC. Ergo, I went HTC. In fact most of the times I was upgrading often the only devices that would hit all my user clamps were from HTC.

The TG01 I am currently using, for example only rates a 7/10. The battery cover is difficult to re-fit correctly with the micro usb blanking plate in place, the screen is a little too easy to scratch, the construction is almost 100% plastic externally, its a phone that is best used with a stylus, and has no internal stylus holder and the hardware buttons are clunky and do not always register. The other parts of the phone work well, and the device is a nice shape considering its size. These are all points that could be easily addressed, hence the lower rating.

Im going to stop there, as my Omnia 7 just arrived.... :D:D

I'm finding it really hard to choose what phone to go for here, bad times :( lol!

Obviously looked at the deals with T-Mobile for the Omnia 7 which does look pretty good, would be tempted to go with the handset for £130 and then £30 p/m for 18months + £80 cashback since I despise these 24 month contracts.

But the Mozart is soooo tempting too! I've had a Touch Diamond and an HD2 and I really could go for a 3rd HTC handset.

Phone for £49.99 + £27.50 p/m + £140 cashback is really tempting it has to be said, unfortunately it looks like it would be a 24Month deal. this + the £140 for my HD2 will allow me to pay off the remainder of my Vodafone contract.

Just don't know what the best course of action is :( haha!

Someone help me make up my mind :p

So I'm not getting my Omnia 7 today.
T-mobile called me yesterday to say it would be delivered before 12 today. Just phoned them and was told there was a system error and they never had any Omnia 7s because their software failed testing. I thought that was the case anyway but when they phoned to say it was on its way I assumed all was well.
I said it would have been nice for a call this morning to tell me, so I wasn't sitting around all morning to which the response was
"Yeah... well, we didn't know"
Not even a sorry!
Long live British customer service:(

(To be fair I wouldn't have gone out anyway, but that's not the point damn it!)

Nokia must make a load of phones I don't know about, because every one of their 'high end' phones I've used have been a load of plastic tosh with diabolical screens. My iPhone was exceptional in comparison and my DHD is nowhere lacking to my iPhone at all.

I tend to do a bit of a review when I get a new device as a separate post, but ok :p

Initial impressions when opening the box are very good, the unit feels weighty and comfortable to hold. If i am being picky, the top edges are not the best feeling, but then my previous TG01 had very rounded edges which made it ultra smooth to hold.

When i flipped off the battery cover, I was pleasantly suprised when it popped off that it was a lovely reassuringly cold machined metal part. The Sim and battery fitment were simple as with most devices nowerdays. Just slide in the sim, no clips, and insert the battery.

The Usb and earphone jack are placed on the top of the unit, which is great, and the sliding cover for the micro usb slot is a nice touch.

Be ready for the device to start beeping at you continually when first powered up. This is the battery low indicator, and it made me think the device was knackered! Still, once the unit was charging up it went away.

Started to move around the device, wow, its very slick. The screen quality is phenominal, blacks are really black, and colours/video response is top notch. Its also got a really loud little speaker built in, even on the very lowest setting it was loud enough for other people in my office to hear.

Only had a quick play with my free 14 day Zune account, but it looks to be pretty usefull, and syncing media seems painless and quick. Synced on a couple of apps too, and again, was seamless from the Zune gui.

My marketplace experience on the device itself is poor for now, as I have very naff signal in my office.

Contacts can be an issue too, sync up to Facebook and my live account, and i had a load of really old and not very usefull contacts listed without asking me. However, a bit of data maintenance and using the very cool little "link" tool that allows you to merge two duplicates without losing data is very easy.

Like I said, this is only a first impressions, and I can only get pics of the device itself from my old TG01 camera at the moment, not really doing it justice. (the pics wash out the screen terribly!)

Overall impressions so far. A very polished OS, and easy to use. The device feels high quality and the screen quality is awesome!

Sounds good, just wish MS would allow tethering and drag and drop. :(

As for the phone specifically, what is actually metal? Reading a couple of reviews it seems to range from just the back cover to the sides as well... I assume the front is just "glass", the sides? Back around the metal cover?

I may have to drag my friend into a couple of phone shops on sunday when we head into London.... Otherwise it'll be another couple of weeks before I get a chance to have a compare of all the devices! :(

Bit the bullet and ordered the Mozart :D

Should recieve it on friday!

Paid £99.99 for the phone, £22.50 per month with 300 mins, Unlimited Texts + Net which is pretty decent. Plus £140.00 cashback coming through the Quidco transaction, so have to say I'm fairly happy with that.

Using the cashback and money from my HD2 sale/recycle to pay off the remainder of my Vodafone deal as they have royally annoyed me to leave earlyl ol!

Looking forward to playing about with this, love HTC handsets, never been disappointed...yet :p

As far as I can tell, the full back cover/battery cover is metal. It rolls up around the sides to the "glass".

The top and bottom "caps" appear to be a high density plastic which is almost identical in colour to the metal.

I got my Orange phone today, called up to cancel with T-mobile and now have one coming from them instead (returning my Orange phone unused).

They now have the phone in stock (112 left), and mine will be coming tomorrow.

I am excited.
