Doing my first carb up this Saturday for 24 hours.

Have been on keto for about 3 weeks, lost about 10lbs.

Need some advice on my first carb up.

Not sure if this diet plan would be any good?

8AM - Porridge Oats with honey
- Toast 2 Slices Whole Meal Bread

11AM - Snack - NOT SURE WHAT

2PM - Large Tuna Sandwhich on Whole Meal Bread
- Protein Whey Shake

5PM - Snack - NOT SURE WHAT

7PM - Large Chicken Kebab Pita Bread with brown rice
- Fat Free Yoghurt

How that's for my first ever carb up?

Need some help on the Snack side.

Thanks,

Well I am on a Keto DIET which is almost zero carbs!

So just one day eating the above is more than the total carbs I've consumed for three weeks...

Thanks for the tips, very helpful.

you wanna eat carbs? oooh welcome to my world :D

you want:

flapjack
donuts
chips
pringles

that should be a good start for you :)

More seriously though, good work on being so disciplined fella :)

What were you eating on your diet if you don't mind me asking? I'm on the lookout for new food ideas as I get pretty bored of eating the same stuff all week.

OP, is keto ideal for correctly cutting fat, whilst maintaining muscle?

I've never completed/attempted a true 'cut', is this what you're plan is? Or are you just trying to lose any weight to trim down?

(is it sad im already planning for my cut next march?! lol)

3 weeks without a carb up?

Yep, my work outs were not suffering so didn't see the need.

Any tips on good food for carb up then Benny?

Well Tommy I haven't been doing it enough to say but so far so good. But yet this is to cut.

Porridge oats & protein powder isn't too bad, i usually have it for breakfast. Reminds me of ready brek. Rice & potato is always nice, fruit too, some bread perhaps.

Basically Atkins yes but you cycle carbs.

I thought I had to keep it to "clean" carbs and avoid fatty ones?

You're supposed to switch around to high carb/low fat for the day, so rice, grains, fruit etc.

I would have simple carbs early on like fruit and then onto bown rice etc.

I done the same, 2 weeks intro on basically zero carbs then up to about 20-30g a day before doing a carb up.

Quick bit of advice from the reading I've done you might have to experiment over your next few carb ups on which carbs work best for you. Some people find sticking to low GI wholemeal makes them feel the best whereas I've read of some people feeling they got a better carb up from things like haribo and sugary cereal

Thanks Raikiri.

All went well on Saturday, as far as I can tell.

One small side effect, let's just say there was a quite a bit of movement come Sunday if you catch my drift :p

How do you measure whether it's been a good carb up or not?
