*****The Worlds Fastest and most Overclockable GTX 480 Exclusively Available from OcUK - MSI GTX 480

lol

Digital signals aren't prone to static, interference or ghost images like analog signals are. They do a better job of carrying the information that makes up the picture.

It's a digital signal, the only way you would have interference is if the cable/connectors were damaged.

U have 2 already simman
Why do u need this too?

Metro 2033. :p

I don’t need this but I always twitch when I see an exciting product like this. It’s a great design and the Twin Frozr III cooling system looks the business. I already have a super system with two 480s and they will be staying for quite a while. :)

WANT. And because you still have cooling for the vrms and vram you can install a universal GPU only block for epic overclocking on water!

No offence NathWraith but isn't that a bit of a dumb move at that price? You can get a new GTX480 for ~£330, and an EK full cover for £60... rather than this at £470 plus a core-only block at £30-40. Only £120 cheaper for a better cooling solution...

If having a core-only is so important, get a Zalman 3000-F, nick the cooling plate and use that for the VRMs, and it's still £80 cheaper...

Its not about that though is it.

Stock GTX 480's are built on a different PCB. These have custom PCB, different power phase design, different components. So Nathwraith is very right because on this card he will get much higher overclock than a reference design GTX 480.

Will he, are you sure, I've seen it get about 25-40Mhz iirc faster than the seconds faster 480gtx under LN2, so right at the VERY limit of cooling capacity its very marginally better at those clocks 25Mhz is a much smaller percentage than the difference between 700Mhz and 725Mhz, ps thats less than 4% and at I think its around 1275-1300Mhz being the difference at the very very high end thats around a 2% improvement, well worth it.

Basically you really won't see a difference, water cooling will max out its capability FAR before the cards redonkulous overkill VRM's and everything else can go a whole 25Mhz further than other cards.

The big problem is, 2x470gtx's + the extra for a mobo + the extra for a bigger better case(ie £20 for a better mobo and £20 for a bigger case) and it still costs less than a single ridiculous 480gtx.

480gtx that goes marginally further, or 2x 470gtx, I know which I'd choose every single time.

470gtx sli = utter destruction of a single 480gtx, they are also fairly decent value compared to everything on the market.

In reality the sale of these cards should come with a custom forum title, I think "sucker" would be appropriate in this case.

I forgot to mention aswell that 2x6870's utterly blow ANY 480gtx away and approach 480gtx's in SLI because they seem to scale SO well with some obvious hardware tweaks. A £300 480gtx was bad before compared to a 470gtx at £200, its even worse now you can get 2x6870 for around £180 each.

If you click some of the other benchmarks there it does show the 6870CF doing pretty well generally. Tho it seems pretty balanced from that review, with some going either way and some equal.

lol everyones favorite tech review site reports that 6870 xfire is up there with 470 SLI and 5870 xfire, it's as close as 5870 xfire was to 480 SLI.

Everyones favourite tech site, when it suits them, their GPU bench is a joke, their testing is becoming more and more of a joke, their excuses they seem to need to publish after every major review is becoming a bit of a joke.

But there you have 6870 over almost 10fps behind a 5870 in single card, so dual cards should be 20% off, but are only 3fps off, much better scaling, its far ahead of the 480gtx in every single situation, 2x6870 would cost you almost £100 less than the lightning 480gtx.

Anandtech Civ 5, its probably CPU bound because some dual gpu cards are same as single, and theres a range very close. but no, it can't be cpu bound because AMD xfire gets way ahead of the 470gtx sli.

Fantastic journalism, of course the 5850-5870-6850-6870 xf are all right on top of each other, and 460gtx sli-470gtx sli and a single 470gtx are all right on top of each other.

Different cpu limits because of different drivers, we've seen this before, from Nvidia, where they've "unlocked" performance because certain games were getting stuck in drivers not spreading the load properly.

But Anandtech as is fairly usual for them lately, are too stupid to see the results are utterly useless, say nothing and aren't remotely reliable, but there they are, in an official review.

Its almost as dumb as using several cpu bound games/settings in their official GPU bench, wait, they do that too. Anandtech haven't been the same for 2-3 years now.

You mean BC2 which has always loved xfire, that's about it, Civ5 had SLI scaling problems since rectified with an SLI profile.

Sorry DM anandtech is very well respected, that's a fact, not many sites come close to their honest and professional reviews.
