What unpopular opinions do you hold?

If moving to another country you shouldnt be allowed in unless you speak the language. You should only be allowed to speak your own language when you are at home.

Gays should keep to themselves.

Bring back the death penalty.

Make all driving penalties more severe. All crimes tbh.

Tokens rather than benefits.

Only allowed a maximum time to be on benefits.

If your kid gets an asbo or in trouble with the law many times the parents should be fined heavily.

Maximum of 3 kids.

You would effectively ruin the country and take away a lot of freedom :

- Why care about how people spend their money :p, as long as they don't nick stuff for it :p ? Do you hate manufacturers who put spoilers on cars which don't go fast enough to profit from them too ? Do you think peoples houses should look a certain specific way too?
- That's the club's matter tbh, how does it affect you ?
- Bit harsh, what if people are innocent (set up or bad trial) or only 2 weeks away from being released ?
- Population aging is bad enough, though I don't think the average is more than 2 kids per couple tbh. Makes sense if the populations grows excessively like in some parts of the world, here it doesn't really.
- This would destroy the government finances, and would increase health costs on the long term due to people living far too long ( and not working). Smokers pay far more than they cost.
- Understand the point but tbh, we're supposed to live in a free country.

Guess you'd love to be a dictator :D.

- I care because 99.9% of the time the car is been dangerously driven by some pathetic loser as a feeble attempt at impressing others. If a manufacturer puts one there, it normally suits the car, but on a Fiat Punto (For example)...just..no.
- It doesn't affect me, I just find it disgusting.
- Maybe it is a little harsh, but it's all for the greater good. Crime rates and prison overpopulation should fall soon enough...I imagine.
- I was originally going to say only 1 child, but decided on 2 for some reason.
- You may have a point, I've not looked into it tbh.
- Yeah I know, but I don't like seeing them.

When I rise to power I shall be a strict and ruthless dictator ;)

So, you'd nuke all capitalists if you could :p ? Why don't you move to a non capitalist country if you hate capitalism ?

Capitalism isn't the answer.

It can't just go on forever.

If anything, the Anglo-American version of Capitalism has had a very large dose of reality recently. I would go as far as to say it has been discredited.

I would also point out that communism isn't a prerequisite for socialism, nor is it socialism. Stalinism wasn't socialism either.

And we can have a very marked effect on our planet. Fish, wildlife, trees and other ecological aspects etc, we can over a length of time undoubtadly effect gas in some way.

It works better than anything else, people need motivation to learn and work. tbh we've barely noticed the crysis at all, parents lost a couple of thousand of investments but they knew the risks but that aside it made bugger all difference on our lives.

Yeah, overpopulation being the biggest reason imo, not our way of life. I do not remotely believe we have any influence that make would make the environment unsuitable to live for ourselves ( eg. starting a new ice age or similar, I don't believe humans accelerate or slow that process down). Fish are dying because of over fishing and pollution, not carbons, wildlife are dying simply because we are taking their space and hunting them and their food, not because of carbons, trees are dying because we chop them, not carbons, etc. I don't believe in the whole co2= pollution thing. CO2 is not pollution imo.

Doesn't detract from the fact it can't go on forever.

Anyway, nothing much else has been tried in terms of a true replacement for capitalism?

That's you, and your world though. There is a larger picutre.

No, surely its our way of life by actually dredging these creatures out of the sea and sending them into terminal decline?

You can't say its us, but not us.

Anyway I'm talking about over fishing, not pollutants.

That's fine, I'm not a major fan of climate debates.

That the world would be a better place if there was some kind of centre, where people from all over the world could trade things.

Also, Dihydrogen monoxide shouldn't be banned.

If people make good choices in life than capitalism is most likely to work out fine... For healthy people born in countries like this it will. I don't believe healthy people have anyone but their selves to blame when they get in to problems like no money for food or shelter in most Western countries.

Too much of us, I don't think fishing would be that harmful if we only had 500 million people on earth or similar. I'm mainly on about the climate with the ''environment'' though and the CO2 rubbish going on these days.

That the culinary skills of the Scottish are so poor they all have to move to England to get some of our decent grub.
Violence is an answer and most arguments can be solved by a swiftly placed hook or elbow to the chin.
I still believe that the Welsh shag sheep.
That all southerners are gay.
That all northerners have a black pudding shoved up their arse.
That obese people should be banned from driving, get some exercise you fat git.
I would like people to PYFTU

David Cameron is a smug public school twit who needs a good kicking.
Also anyone i havent offended yet is so unimportant they shouldnt be allowed to breathe.

I don't know if 90% of the population would disagree with me on these issues, but I imagine they'd be pretty contentious:

Glorifying ignorance and stupidity on BBC radio and TV should result in that person being fired - radio 1 is full of people who 'can't do maths' (i.e. they can't be bothered). There are 'features' which encourage children to write random words in their homework - how is that beneficial to anyone in any way at all? I find it particularly annoying that my license fee is paying for people to tell the nation it's OK not to care about work, and giving the impression mathematics is some massively difficult subject nobody should be expected to understand even the basics of - sure, they don't say this explicitly, but to my ears, it's implied.

The only degrees worth anything are maths/science/engineering etc, and maybe some arty ones at the very top universities. There should be no government funding for the other degrees.

I am starting to wonder why we have a preocupation with making people live longer - what do we really gain by curing some cancerous 80 year old - another 5 years of life? is it really worth it? I wonder whether the NHS should just offer a free euthanasia service to those over 80 and those of any age suffering from chronic medical conditions - would save money, emotional pain, plus physical pain. Death is not that bad in the end - it happens to everyone sometime, and after you die you're not around to complain to anyone that you missed seeing take that at the O2.

I think rape should be treated equally to any other violent assault of a similar level of violence, but that all forms of violent assault should bear far greater sentences.

Provocation can make humans do a lot of things they wouldn't usually do, and if there are some police at a protest and someone's jumping in their face shouting stuff at them, a bit of light beating is not necessarily justified, but is also not as bad as some people would make out. A bit of anger management for the officer in question and an apology should suffice.

That is actually quite a good idea:

Government funding only for the areas we need more people in like indeed, science/technology/engineering/communications&it/biology/logistics/etc, anything else: Pay for yourself. I don't see the point in the government subsidizing studies like philosophy or culture or tourism&recreation, etc, well, pretty much anything there is little demand for people for.

I don't believe mankind deserves to exist, in our current state, and the sooner we wipe each other out the better*.

* That or we all start living Star Trek, but I think we all know which is more likely...

Last night I said I think 95% of our population are idiots. IF some of this posts are anything to go by, I'm happy to lower than number, only if some of the views on this board are representative of the larger population. It's refreshing (and slightly scary :p) to read some of the posts made here.

Good thread though.

That a large portion of the UK is a mass of thick uneducated dolts. I also believe in God, love and rock ‘n’ roll.
