Very confident about Cayman

6990 NEEDS at least 3 gigs of ram, especially where eyefinity is concerned, ideally 4 gigs but that will bump the price significantly.

I want the 6970 and I want it nowWWWWW!!!!!!!. Cant play games just now as I sold my 5850. Could we fast forward to the end of November please, I have my nice new Fallout:New Vegas right in front of me and I cant play it. Aaaargh, Amd I want it now now

heres a little comparison that i just did vs the 5870.
It appears that 6970 will be same lenght.
It will also be 1Gb or 2Gb hence it will stay at 256bit DDR5 bandwidth. ( unless amd went mental and gave it 512bit 2900xt ring bus..... cant see it )

6970 has much more MOSFETS hence it will be a hot bugger :-) explains the extra 8 pin connector.
die size is bigger that 5870.
Expect 1920SP compared to 1600SP from 5870.
Expect 40-50% performance over 5870.

Find yourself caught up in the moment, spending needless amounts of cash much? ;)

Everyone enjoys something new and shiny mate. If he has the spare cash then why not have a little fun?
Some would say he has been very sensible, selling his old card before it looses too much and then only has to pay a nominal amount to upgrade PLUS he gets to play with a new toy!

Exact same thing I done, sold both 5870's 6 weeks ago for a good price before 6870 come out, now I'm just waiting to replace them both.
Can't wait !!

Nothing better than a couple of new graphics cards
