My other half's old Scenic is officially gone. We did it

I sent it off to my brother who needed a stop-gap to get him out of a stitch. The autobox had started to play up more often, so I changed the fluid before handing it over, which seemed to cure it again :D

So it hasn't gone far but I have now officially owned a post-1972 taxable car for the first time, for a grand total of 4 weeks :D

Still don't know what to replace it with; we're torn between sensible and silly within reason. The Seat Altea is the sensible choice, the Dihatsu Copen would have been a nice silly little rollerskate but we never got it in an auto over here, I'd quite like a series 1 Honda Insight like Jonnycoupe's, the Nissan Figaro is still an option...

Who knows. Left my own devices it would be an early 30's sedan with a straight swap to a modern 2 litre and autobox :p

End of an era indeed! :D How many miles was it you put on that while it was playing up?

Had more luck than my Dad - his Safrane (this is about 10 years ago now) exhibited similar symptoms then 2000 miles later the autobox just gave up the ghost entirely!

Jonny, by the way, if you know of anyone with a decent short 350 (or maybe even complete) SBC then give me a shout :)

We did 39,000 miles while it was playing up and I have no doubt it's got some left in it yet :D

Don't know anyone with a 350 spare, unfortunately. The wanted ads on Rod n Sods or the NSRA forum should turn something up though. What have you broken? :p

An era ended yesterday for me as well.

The Mondeo left the driveway on the back of a trailer, never to be seen again. I was going to do a thread but didnt feel it worthy, so I've tacked it into this one :p

And people fault French cars :p On this basis I shall now assume they're all purveyors of Honda-like reliability :D

Ta, thought I'd ask just in case! Yea, there's been a few drifting around, just waiting on some quotes for shipping. Not broken, building! :)

I didn't even know you still had it. Chapeau, dude.
id get the Altea they're doing nice deals on them atm, also you could have silly and sensible in an Altea FR :)
We'd be looking at a second hand one, 2 litre diesel for motorway mileage and problems pressing a left hand pedal, hence auto.

I'm sort of tempted to have something properly silly waiting for her when she gets back from abroad but I don't know whether she'd kill me more for having another one of my projects arrive or something silly for her arrive :p

The Insight is pretty close for me because it fits my eco drive and looks like a late 80's concept car. I really like it.
