BMW 740i Sport Individual 2001 'Y' - £5995
First registered on the first of March 2001, this BMW 740i Sport Individual is finished in metallic Avus blue with Champagne leather and walnut detailing. Fitted with 18" M-Tech Parallel Spoke alloys, the car has covered 86,000 miles and has a full service history. Presented in exceptional condition throughout.

Looks nice, really nice but £1k more than I am willing to spend, I think , not to mention what looks like either gap's or skipped services in its history... :(

With the holiday impending, its not the best time for me to drop everything & swap cars, but it is just what I have been looking for - possibly.:o:rolleyes:

Convince me I'm right to say no...... :o :)

The service gaps would bother me on this vehicle. Perhaps they can be justified so worth enquiring at least

Wouldn't bother me at all, the car will have wafted up and down the motorway and the car will had adjusted it's service schedule to fit with the usage patterns.

What WOULD bother me is that the gap between it and a similar E65 would be very slim:

Looks a good one, if thats what you want get it, dont let a grand be a hurdle.

That doesn't result to gaps in the history though?

Just variable times and distances between them.

Would be easy to check out as the last keeper change was 2005 so could always ask previous owner.... It may be something as simple as they did not use it very much (circa 6K/year going by info).

The dealership/garage is touting "Full Service History" so just ask them....

It is very nice but something happened after 2006. It had perfect history until then and then nothing for 3 years..

Also nothing for 2005?

It's nice, but if you're paying "Full history" money I'd sort of expect full history.

Not that I think it's neccesarily a good buy but you've rather missed the point there.

The E38 is a low mileage, mint, last of the line example in a truely stunning colour combination with arguably the best engine.

The E65 is a high mileage, bottom of the market early example in an average colour combination with the 3.5 litre engine.

Whilst for some people the E65 is a better choice it is a tad like saying 'Why buy that mint E39 530i Sport Champagne II edition when a grand more gets you an 03 plate E60 525i SE'.

I can see the point of buying the best of the previous shape, i did it with both my Jags but when you are paying best money you do want the best car. Or the best base to turn into a minter.

Fox would you buy that e38 if like our truck driving mate that was what you wanted?
Without going into the realms of stupid money that must be about as good as it gets no?

That was my logic for trying to talk him into buying that M5 a while back and it didn't work :(.
