I was having a discussion recently with someone about the Euromillions and the topic of numbers came up, I asked if he'd ever pick the selection of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and he said he wouldn't because "it would just never happen", despite the fact he understood perfectly that mathematically it's just as likely to occur as any other set of numbers.

I wouldn't play them myself just because I'd suspect it's the most likely set of numbers that would have also been selected by at least someone else, so even if I won I'd likely have to split the winnings mulitway :p. However if it wasn't for that I'd have no qualms playing those numbers every week if I actually played the lottery.

Would you play them?

I suppose it's likley to happen.

I've always played 1 set of numbers plus a lucky dip to keep the random element in there.

No, too many people play them, which would decrease my winnings significantly if they ever came up.

The numbers I have in my lotto sweepstake at work are 1,2,3,4,5,6... I have suprisingly won more 10 pounds than anybody else except another who has 34,35,36,37,38,39.

Coming out in numerical order reduces the odds dramatically. But if not, you have just as much chance as the numbers 12,14,25,31,33,41 coming out.
