Been toying with this idea for a while now, ever since i realised my newest toy does 250 miles to a tank :(

It's a Nissan 200sx s14a 1998.

Done about 95k and been researching into this a bit, and was just wondering if anyone has had a LPG conversion done on their car?

Seems BRC or Prins is the way to go and i've already been told that if i continue to modify the car up and beyond 350bhp i will need improved LPG injectors to start with.

Pricing wise i've been quoted about £1500 with 3-5 year warranties and a few post service checkups to make sure it's all running right.

Anyone else got a conversion done?
What car?
Rough price you paid?

Thanks,

Andy

Hey mate!.

Save the cash, get a cheap derv as a hack and get the 200 on a limited miles policy and keep it for weekends...

That was an idea, but i bought this car as its comfortable and has the power so want it for long road trips too.

Obviously making it LPG will half the fuel bill, *effectively* giving me around 50-60MPG for the same price as petrol.

So lets say you average 27MPG, at 25K miles a year is around £5k a year in fuel (@118ppl).

You average will go down with LPG so lets call it 24MPG at 25K miles a year is around £2800 (@60ppl).

Sounds more than worth it, as the conversion cost would pay for its self after a year.

I'd post up on some 200sx/other SR20 engined car forums and see if any of them have run on LPG and get experiences from other people on your engine.

You'll be able to crank up the boost, too :D

I knew of a very reputable supplier who had an ace ECU for multipoint LPG systems (they do complete installs), I'll see if I can find them....

I was considering it for my Jeep but given the mileage I do these days (company car) it doesn't really matter anyway. It's not too bad at the moment anyhoo, it does about 24 average and I've got some uprated injectors and parts on the way that should bump it up by another two or three. Should almost be reasonable by then :D
