The apologetic football thug

It's funny how there's national sports all over the world yet football seems to cause the most grief. Weird that, it's a bunch of overpaid puffs kicking a ball around.

You're kidding right? Plenty of other sports suffer worse violence, even in the crowds. It's just trendy to **** off 'football hooligans' though.

Does indeed sound like he is bricking himself knowing that you have his number. Report him tbh, he'll only be doing the same to someone else next time.

For those who can't be bothered to read it -
Bloke threatens me on train
Then rings me to apologise for his behaviour

It's easy for people to say "i would have kicked his ass" but if me and my familly were in the same situation i would have done the same thing, being a hard guy doesnt work when you are totally outnumbered and you do whatever it takes to keep your loved ones safe, so respect Mr Poole.

Sounds like the whole situation could have been resolved with a swift triple tap of a Mac 10.

Omg do you happen to know of anyone on the forum who can get me automatic weapons in 3 minutes flat? please!!!????

Annoys me that they pick fights for absolutly no reason at all. Totally did the right thing dude, even if you had smashed him you would have certainly recieved a brutal beating from the others. 100% what I would have done, bar the asking not be hurt thing. Sometimes they do something just because of saying something like that :(

Just an idiot. The real football "hooligans" i know are just normal people who let off stress by fighting other football "hooligans", there are unwritten rules and starting on civillians especially family men is a no no. You get a lot of people who are just violent types who are attracted to football violence and dont actually care about football, and like you experienced, some of them are all show.

The thing that struck me is why dont you have your phone turned on? Whats the point in having it if you have it off all the time?

But anyways, nice of the bloke to apologise

lol rubbish

they use that excuse to try and stop themselves looking as bad.

Close call by the sounds of it. Glad you're okay. :)

Sounds like a scene out of the film Green Street TBH.

Football

The world would be a nice place if it were gone.

Now you see... I really don't like football, in fact I have so little interest in it, I'd actually rather have a lecture on modern impressionism in Chinese for a year than watch a football match.

HOWEVER, all around the world football is popular - so there must be a reason for it. And, I think it's just the gang-like attitude and quasi-religious following it has in this country and culture associated with it here that puts people like you and me off. I may be wrong of course... there may well be the same problems elsewhere - but it seems to be rife here and the Brit football fans do seem to have a reputation abroad unfortunately. :(

I think the problem is ignorance, it's not 'rife' here at all. You go to matches in Spain, France or Italy and there is real trouble there along with open racism, something I haven't personally seen in England for years.

Unfortunately reputations are hard to get rid of and thanks to certain events in the 70s and 80s English football fans will probably be tarnished forever.

Fair comments, I did say "seems to be rife" as clearly this is not my line of expertise. :) I have to say as an outsider, I see a lot more "aggro" surrounding football matches (i.e. in terms of police presence necessary, anti other teams attitudes etc.. ) than other sporting events, or to take one close to my heart, rugby. :)

I can only draw from my perception - which I admit may be slightly short sighted. If you say it's not as bad as it's made out, I'll 100% believe you as clearly you know more about it than I do. :)

Stoke fans are a different breed in general, they rank alongside the Welsh and Leeds when it comes to thuggery.

Stoke have over 1000 Class A hooligans compared to Man Utd who have 100.

The thing that struck me is why dont you have your phone turned on? Whats the point in having it if you have it off all the time?

We'd been to an underground tour (St Mary's Close!) in the afternoon and asked to turn our phones off - I didn't turn it back on.

Forehead to Forehead? Was he 4ft tall as well?

Brilliant :D

Don't be such an idiot/drama queen - plenty of football fans are fine (myself included, QPR season ticket holder). I hardly ever see any trouble but well done for the stereotype.

Don't tar us jacks with the cardiff brush! ;)

Last time I went to Stoke for football they wernt too bad! (the again it was championship which might sum up where some of the fans were)

Nice of him to apologise though, even if it always baffles me why these sort of excuses are acceptable, why should he take a 1-0 loss away at everton out on some random on the train is just a little childish...
