Why do people still play XBOX360 when the res is pap?

Because many people play a game for it's gameplay, not how good the graphics are.
You should give the Wii a go, even when hooked up with a component cable it doesn't go higher than 480p...
Get a few mates round and it's still great fun though!

Because a sub £200 console is a more affordable way to play recent games and 360 exclusives. Low resolution doesn't mean a game is bad or unplayable. It just means that you need to spend more money on a decent PC for higher resolution textures, something not everyone cares to do.
It's hardly fair to compare graphics on said sub-£200 console to recent PCs where a half-decent graphics card alone is around £200.

My 150 quid overclocked C2D 4300 running 3.6ghz and a 5670 looked better at 1080p than my mates 360 and his cost more?

Because, as I'm sure you're aware, it's running 5 year old hardware.
People still play it because it's the best/one of the best consoles available and PC can't offer the affordability, convenience or ease of use of a console. Simple as.
It is dated was designed in 2004.. Not many pc,s from 2004 can game as good as a 360..
Ease of use was why i sold on my gaming pc. Console Gaming is so easy just fire it up and your away..
I understand all about the gameplay
But I refuse to buy into the BS of console ports....

To some extent, yes. It doesn't remove the other awkward things about PC gaming though.
