I went ahead with the Insignia VXR

I have done a VXR trackday. The Astra VXR i drove would not go into second gear and Pulled to the left constantly. I Canned the arse of it for about 30 mins The engine temp was hitting the Red for most of the time and the clutch and brakes stank of burning and over use all with 3k on the clock... I,m no expert but i think you would be hard pushed to do as much damage on a motorway unless you crashed the thing....

I did explicitly say providing it was cooled sufficiently and the oil system was doing it's job.

But then thats not a trackday, As said the car was literally sat still for 5 mins as the previous driver jumped out and i jumped in. The cars are thrashed and then thrashed some more. I doubt 10 years of motorway driving would do the same amount of damage. At the end of the day the cars were a complete mess...

What, you reckon Vauxhall uprate the cooling systems for these trackdays? Or are you looking for a way out?

I would have thought they would at least baffle the sumps (if they aren't already) to avoid the obvious.

See my next answer on the 'way out' thing.

I've no idea how well the cooling system works on these cars and that is why I explicitly said about cooling and oil early on, I've not taken any of them on track, but it isn't an unfair assumption to make for the cooling system to be capable of handling the days they are running.

KK. Had enough email notifications on this thread to last me a lifetime. I'm doing a "Lashout" and ejecting from the thread.

no_1_dave - Enjoy your VXR, I'm sure you will. Great motor that looks fab, I'm sure you will have fun with it.

/unsubscribes from thread

Thanks for letting us know bro.

So you made a point about something TOTALLY irrelevant to this thread, given that the VXR trackday cars are the entire point of this thread and sub-discussion within!

TLMH - What a joke you are.

I do prefer these to a Vectra, but I'm not much of a Vectra fan really so I guess that's not saying much!

How is it totally irrelevant based on the post you quoted?

In fact, don't even bother answering this. I've first hand experience that trying to entertain discussion with you is akin to repeatedly smashing my head against a brick wall. So it'll no doubt make absolutely no sense.

Don't believe its been mentioned but I bet none of the VXR track day cars had a baffled sump, I don't know about anyone else but I was pulling some serious G's around the bends :D Hello oil starvation?

Also has it been proven that the OP's car was a **** or is that claim as far fetched as Mike H's drug fuelled ramblings?

*edit*

You'd be happy to own a car that's been abused because you would have thought they would have done something. You are brilliant.

the VXRs seem ok for oil starvation, not heard of any of the cars suffering it, and plenty see hard track use on the forums.

Wow, this has been going on since I went to bed. Good job mikehiow, another thread completely derailed and turned into a random argument...

Did Mike honestly say he couldnt see anything wrong with a car hammered round a track for a month as a purchase?

This is getting beyond a joke now, every second thread on here is descending into petty arguments. Motors used to be my favourite section on this forum but its getting tiresome filtering all the crap to get to the relevant posts.

/Rant.
