Clearing away your own rubbish.

I wouldn't dream of leaving rubbish just because somebody else is paid to remove it.

So you pack your litter in your hand luggage after a meal on planes? And I assume you wash your own dishes after a meal at a restaurant? etc...

;)

And regarding this ninja edit/wall of text...

Do people actually go out of their way to leave their **** in the cinema? I don't go very often due to the price, but when I do I usually just have a drink and a bag of Skittles or something that I share with whoever comes with me and at the end of the movie the rubbish is deposited in the bins, it doesn't matter if they're at the end of a corridor or whatever, that's just an excuse lazy people are using who can't be bothered to clean up after themselves. It isn't hard to put your rubbish in the drinks cup and then throw the cup in the bin on your way out, people who say that if they didn't litter then the cleaner would be out of a job well what a crap excuse. I'm sure that person doesn't solely clean the cinema, they will be working on the tills / taking tickets at some point as well.

I was never suggesting that it's ok for people to be litterbugs... But rather the OP shouldn't complain about something that is largely a part of why he has a job. For example, I work in a hotel and dealing with lazy ****wits is something I do on almost every shift. I hate it with a passion, but then if it wasn't for these morons the reality is I probably wouldn't have my job.

So all I'm really saying is, yes it sucks. But thats work for ya. As much as it sucks, you actually have to do stuff. :/

The amount of effort between washing plates up and drying/putting away is completely different to folding up a paper box of popcorn and chucking it in the bin. Besides, if we are at a restaurant then at the end of the meal it isn't exactly unreasonable to put all the leftover crap onto a single plate and stack the others up then putting the cutlery on top to help the waiter/waitress.

I will agree with that, maybe he shouldn't complain but simply paying for a cinema ticket and food isn't a license to just chuck your **** anywhere you feel like, as some posters have suggested.

Who does that in a restaurant?

Because normally I've finished my stuff during the film anyway so had to stick it under my seat so sort of forget about it by the end.

Plus everyone's shuffling around to get out, I'm making sure I've got my keys/jacket/etc, we take my nephew to the cinema sometimes so it's also a hassle to get his stuff together and pick him up so he doesn't get trampled by other people and it's still very dark so I'm hardly going to fish around under the seats to find my rubbish.

Part of the experience of the cinema is the service, so yea I expect an employee to take care of things like that.

Really? In a a restaurant?

Or a "restaurant"?

In a restaurant with real plates, real food and waiter service, We stack out plates, move leftovers onto a single plate, and put all knifes forks and rubbish on said plate.

In a "restaurant" I'm guessing you mean a MC Ds style one? We always throw away our stuff and stack the trays, As its not like its difficult or time consuming. And it leaves the table free for someone else.

Still, I don't get the OP question!

"Do you do it when out?! If not... Reconsider."

Are you simply asking do we leave rubbish all over the place, and if we don't we should consider doing it?

Or do we use the bins when out and if not, we should consider doing so?

Exactly the same tbh. It makes it easier for the waiter or waitress to carry the stuff away, and it saves them from having to lean over everybody to pick up the individual plates. If it's fast food like Burger King or whatever then all the rubbish goes on the tray, tray gets shaken over the top of the bin and then the tray gets stacked afterward, it takes all of 10 seconds. Some people just can't be arsed.

That's also something I like to do. I'll pile the plates, get everything neatly on there to make it easier for the waiter/waitress when they come round.

The wife shouts at me when I do it, though. Apparently it's rude?

I've always done that? No need to be so condescending.

I wasn't being condescending, I've geniuenly never heard of that before.
Do you tip the waiter aswell or not bother since you're doing half their work?

Or if you're talking about Mcd's and such then fair enough, I always stick the stuff in the bin and tidy the tray away, but in a restaurant nope.

It amazes me how some of you can think "I pay £x so I can act like a pig". It's called common decency. I'd hate to see what your house looks like.

Seriously, when the bin is next to the door you have to walk past to leave the screen how difficult is it to pickup a bag of popcorn and throw it in the bin? Leave the place how you find it is a good way to look at it. It's called "being helpful".

I can not stand any sort of littering and never do and always give a good British glare at anyone I see dropping litter. I've been known to confront people about their littering on the street.
I always take my rubbish out at the end of the film and put it in a bin, if there isn't an available bin I'll either hold onto it until I find one or go up to the ticket desk/food desk and ask the staff if they have a bin for my rubbish. The workers have a constant job of keeping the place clean and tidy and if I can help them with that I will.
A strange thing in cinemas is peoples eagerness to leave. As soon as the film has finished, people will be on their feet and queueing to get out the door. I remain seated, wait until it's a lot quieter and then leave without the pushing and shuffling. I think it's very odd, especially as they'll no doubt go on an internet forum and moan about the prices instead of just enjoying the film and taking their time to leave.
