Whats your opinion on the new CODEC (Xbox 360)

Hello,

I haven't been able to update my xbox 360 as I am at college and I was wondering how is the new codec on the new xbox 360 update?

Whats your opinion on it?

Is it louder and better quality in game as I never could hear mine (EVEN ON THE TV :mad:

)

In game doesn't seem to have changed, Might just be me though.

Could hear the difference in party chat, Sounds like everyones got a cold. Slightly clearer though and cuts out less.

Is it louder? That was the only issue with the old codec tbh, just too quiet.

Yeah we tried party chat and private chat and it sounded like we had colds. I think every time we were in game we used private chat so not sure if that's better.

If it is louder, I cant tell that it is. My headset volume is only on 5/10 and I find that more than enough though, Have I got super hearing?

I think its only ment to be better for party chat, games need to be patched to use the new codec.

It's loud enough when you have the volume on low but I find the headset far too quiet when playing an FPS with surround sound on. I don't have the volume on that loud when gaming but it's still an issue.

For comparison's sake: My PC with the 360 headset plugged in will make it go far, far, far, far, far louder than the 360 ever does, so it's a software issue not a hardware issue.

It is not as good as expected, but you can tell the difference.

It's a bit better and a bit louder, but certainly still not quite loud enough. For all the complaints people have about the PS3's online system, the sound quality on comms is much better.
