Clio 200 Cup via finance

The paperwork is now signed, my car is due to be with me on 20th December so a long agonising wait. It gives me time to sell my Focus but I may be left without a car for a couple of weeks, not to worry!

So, the deal I ended up with is as follows:

Clio 200 FF
Albi blue
Cup Chassis
Black speedline alloys

Final price was £14,500 which is a saving of £4,250. I also got a few extras thrown in as well which sweetened the deal. I'm happy to put anyone in touch with the salesman I have been dealing me, send me an email via trust.

How much Deposit and how much a month?

Kepp thinking of getting the GF one of these but went to sit in one the other day and it just felt so cheap ( I know it is cheap) She is not a fan but I fancy her having something a bit fun that I can drive when I feel like.
I am a selfish man arent I?

Tis the criteria I have used to buy most of my wifes cars, the odd A4 being the exception to that rule, the 106Xsi, 106GTi, Golf GTi and MX-5 being such examples and to be fair she loved all of them.

Yeh I got her an Mx-5 and she hates that. Its a fantastic drive though. I just feel a bit too big to drive it much.

Going to get one of these just don't know whether to cup pack or not.

+ Better ride height
+ Dark wheels don't need cleaning
+ Sharper handling

- Less comfortable for the commute
- Perhaps too stiff for some of the roads I drive on (I have cracked sumps, flattened a tubular manifold and snapped a wishbone mount in the past :p)
- Maxpower style red calipers

Don't care about resale value and initial cost isn't bad. Hmmm

Seems the default response but wonder if it's all the magazines testing the car on perfectly flat tracks giving everyone that opinion. A bit more suspension travel and compliance might come in handy on UK roads.

Housey loves anything with a jarring ride :D

You are buying a sporty little hot hatch which will, by it's very nature, be bumpy and simply enhancing it's sharpness and dynamics surely makes sense on such a car? Now I can agree that on road compliance might in some conditions make the less stiff car quicker but that is a trade off I believe worth making. The GT3 is not as quick on most bumpy roads as an RS4, but I'd ALWAYS take a GT3 over an RS4 even if I was slower as the event is on a different page and I suspect the Cup v Std car is nowhere near as harsh as a 6 GT3.

BUT, drive both and make your own mind up, always need to compare em first as what works for one person might be alien to another. Go drive!

I agree with what you are saying Housey, but there is not too much fun bouncing all over the road unable to keep the pace up when out on a hoon with mates in lesser but softly setup cars.

Also evo magazine have had issues with it being so stiff it knocked the alignment out a couple of times within a year. :(

In summary yes I need to drive both, however I don't think a dealer is going to be too keen on letting me drive it how I would like to fully compare the 2 setups.

Speak to your dealer, make him aware he will get an order for a car but you need to fully evaluate which one suits you better. On this basis I suspect your dealer might be more accommodating.....though knowing car dealers I'm probably wrong...

If any of those things means so much to you one has to wonder why you're looking to get a hot hatch in the first place?

Because I live on the edge of the peak district and b road blasting is priority. Having rock hard suspension doesn't necessarily make it better.

I've had some great hot hatches in the past, heavily modified Saxo VTS, S1 rallye, Xsara VTS etc. I went for the sensible option of a nice all rounder this time with a late Mk2 MR2 and its so dull I want a change.

Hm, I am getting somewhere with my local dealer now. Still needs some tweaking to be done though!

I really like the sound of the offer you got Adam. How did you talk them into letting you have a higher GFW, with lower monthly payments? At the moment my local dealer (Wilsons Renault) have said that they can do £217 a month with a £1000 deposit and a GFW of £8385 on the 200 Cup with 7000 annual mileage. Not bad, but not exactly great either.

I would prefer to pay what you will be paying monthly with a higher GFW like you but obviously that isnt going to be in their best interests.

The GFV has always been the same, I have not been able to negotiate this (I didn't ask to me fair). The only movement is in the monthly payments and/or deposit. Bear in mind mine is the 200 FF which has an increased GFV, this will explain the differences.

You are still a way off what Lookers are advertising on their website, will your dealer not attempt to beat that quote? I'd also check the renaultsport forum as there are a number of dealers on there who may be able to give you a decent quote.

Yes I thought that would be the case.

So i take it you just negotiated a reduced price by paying the £174 a month?

Correct, going from 1 dealer to the next. A guy on the renaultsport forum paid £14,600 for his FF200 with GW paint, cup chassis and black speedlines so I set myself the task of bettering it. I made it very clear to dealers that I wanted the best price and was prepared to shop around. Eventually I got to a price that I knew I couldn't beat.

FYI - Wests in Bedford, Lookers (Chelmsford and Chester) and the ones on the renaultsport forum were all competitive.

If I negotiated a deal on the phone with the dealer you used adam, do you think I could pay deposit over the phone and only have to travel to Chelmsford to pick the car up. Bit far to go just to arrange the paperwork.
