Hi,

I recently got my Dell U2410 and have noticed on darker pictures/black everything goes quite 'milky' when you move off centre.

Just wondering if this is normal? I have it on default settings at the moment.

Thanks.

As in a silver sheen? This is normal for IPS monitors - termed 'IPS glow'. It is a little annoying I agree and it is just one of the quirks of the technology.

Yeah, kind of I suppose. Basically the blacks get lighter when moving off centre, I can even notice it straight on sometimes depending on my position, however that's possibly due to the light reflecting off it in the room?

Yeah it does sound like IPS glow. If you notice it when the lights are off in the room that will be exactly what it is. It doesn't seem to affect the colours, just the blacks.

You should be thankful that you don't have any tinting issues which some have on the Dell IPS panels :)

Yeah, that's the first thing I checked when I got the monitor out as I had heard a lot about the tinting on the earlier models. I've got an A02 here, not sure if the issues have officially been fixed on this model, but I definitely don't have any issues :)

Very happy with the monitor overall, would love to get it calibrated but I'm not spending £100 on a decent calibrator when I'm only going to use it once every few months. The colours look good to me, which is what counts I suppose. Games looks amazing as well.

It bugs me to high heaven that they dont have a a white polariser on these monitors

the Dell 2410, HP 2475W, hazio and others... they are all High end monitors so should have them.

Without them we get that horrid white glow :(
