Clearing away your own rubbish.

I dont get why people have the urge to stuff themselves with overpriced food for 2h just because its in a cinema, more of a ritual than the need to?

foot long hotdog....

People often go in the evening and may feel hungry. 2.5 hrs sat still with no food is hard when you're already hungry and many places don't allow you to bring your own. Plus, it's fun and popcorn etc. adds to the experience imo.

I work part time in a cinema and don't understand why 90% of the people leave their rusbbish spread out on the floor, in the cup holders or stuffed down the back of the seat despite there being 18 bins.

Do you do it when out?! If not... Reconsider.

Thanks.

Then don't check my ID THREE times until I can watch a movie and don't try to rip me off with your expensive shop ( hypothetically speaking).

It's simple, a shop offers me good food or good service, and I clean up after myself. Is the food all rubbish, my coke flat or do I have to show my id 3 times at 3 different places before I can see my film, and you get crap back. I avoid cinema's altogether these days, buy a bloody parking ticket, buy a cinema ticket, show id, buy overpriced food&drinks, id check, go to cinema room, ID check&ticket check. Then watch 20 minutes of crappy commercials. Same at any food place, is the food good and I'll clean it up, is the food rubbish that day then no way in hell I clean I'm pee'd off enough already that I payed for something and got crap back.

Give me my home cinema + a normal supermarket any day... Buy a crate of beer and a bag of snacks when coming back from work or whatever. What film shall I watch : click, double click, sit back & enjoy no crappy commercials etc...

Yeah, well done you, nice young man brought up to be respectful and treat other humans as you'd be treated yourself. And I guess I was brought up not to be a doormat.

Why do you seem aggrevated because he, and myself, and a few others were brought up to do it and you werent? Is it because we stated the fact we're happy to do it?

maybe you're not aggrevated, but thats the tone i got from that response.

Not aggrevated [sic], incredulous. Trying to link quality of upbringing to amount of litter removed from a cinema is stupid.

I just asked my friend who works in a cinema about this and he says it doesn't bother him if people leave their stuff behind but he would personally take away his empties because it's polite.
"As someone that cleans the screens, i'd say there's nothing wrong with leaving it behind
as long as you haven't left a ridiculous mess" was how he put it.
I'll still take my rubbish away with me though.

Most people are scum. If they think that there's someone who will clean up after them, they'll leave everything behind. I've had to clear up filled nappies, vomit, poo, blood, dog crap, and the amount of rubbish that people leave is obscene.

No, don't put that can of drink into the bin that's one meter away from you! Just leave it on the floor!

As for people saying that cleaners wouldn't have a job to do, that's a load of ****. It's a pathetic excuse used by scumbags who are too lazy with a lack of decency to justify them dumping their crap about. I can assure you, as a cleaner, we have more to do than just pick up after you flids.

And then we're treated like scumbags without two braincells to rub together, when in fact, we're not the ones walking around with an arrogant air of superiority, leaving waste and filth in a trail behind them.

Is it too much to ask to use the goddamn bins that are provided? Or to not just pull out everything in your pockets? Or to pick up after your child? Not to dump rubbish in the planters, killing the plants and then moaning when they're all dead? Or how about leaving broken buggies and giant cardboard boxes next to small public bins? Or even better, ramming them in when there's clearly no space, so it's half sticking out and when I remove it, the rubbish goes everywhere?

Frankly, cleaners > general public. The public are disrespectful, arrogant, ignorant, self-serving morons without an ounce of decency. Yet we are the ones who have to treat everyone with respect, care and professionalism. We're EXPECTED to be kind, and polite. But the public, no, they can be as abusive as they like.

Sure, there are exceptions. But largely, people are scum. And of course, I can't question someone when they drop litter, because, oh no, I might get stabbed.

And all of this on a wage only slightly above minimum wage, having to rush around while management bark orders and force unrealistic expectations upon you.

Makes me seriously question the upbringing of many people. I, for one, even before I became a cleaner, wouldn't consider dropping **** to be in any way justifiable.

Question!

What would you be doing right now if you had no rubbish to tidy?

Right now? Posting on OcUK. ;D

But seriously.

No rubbish is a little unrealistic, as there is always the accidental rubbish dropping. Then there's replacing the bins. Mopping up any accidental spillages. Cleaning the toilets. Dusting. Polishing. Buffing. Gardening. Maintenance (sanding, painting, plumbing, etc). Compacting. Waste disposal (big bins from the shops). Paperwork (¬_¬). General tidying. Security. Oh and being pretty.

I'd rather collect the rubbish... :p
