Classic Car Insurance

Hi Guys

Im probably going to be buying a 2nd car this week as a toy/weekend run about, the car is 20 years old so im looking to get some nice cheap insurance on a limited miles policy.

Can anyone recommend some insurers? i have tried a few but the quotes seem to come out more than if i insured it as my main car!

Footman James, Peter Best, Lancaster Insurance and Sureterm come to mind. Flux can be quite competitive for classic policies too.

ok i will have a look, however i tried lancaster last night and they wanted about £1000!

A lot of 300zx owners find Carol Nash to be pretty reasonable, but I think you have to have it on a drive or garage to qualify.

its a 1990 Golf Rallye, could be a problem with some insurers as its LHD?

a lot of golf owners see pretty good deals with brentacre.

I'm with Suretem and they have been very competetive re prices and good on customer service. Sent an assessor out within 4 days for my agreed value assessment and even agreed in the event of an accident that I would have priority over doing the repairs myself if possible with labour rate to be paid.

I got my GT6 insured via performace direct. The policy is with chauser insurance. £180 for 3000 miles a year.

i hope so, most of the ones listed so far are all over £400 which is a bit more than i want to pay for a 2nd car, swiftcover will insure me for £450 for a normally policy with my no claims!

I don't know if this applies with classics aswell, but I was with Footman James on a more modern car up until recently. However, they wouldn't offer me a renewal quote when the policy was due to expire, stating it was due to a change in underwriting terms. Phoned them up and they said it's because they're no longer insuring anyone under the age of 30.

I must've got lucky in my first year of driving... was with them at 17
