Clearing away your own rubbish.

Arguably, yes. With little work experience and the job situation as it was/is, I couldn't say no to anything.

Surely you don't have to stick with it though? Always other opportunities!

I have to do all of that, plus more, in addition to collecting the rubbish. Unfortunately most people think I just wander around all day picking up crisp packets.

Well every time I see a cleaner, they're either sat smoking or picking up crisp packets! Those lazy sods! ;)

You don't expect us to spend 8 hours constantly walking about, do you? We need a break every once in a while between all those crisp packets. ;)

At some point, perhaps. Nonetheless, the attitude of people is still rather disappointing.

Most people are scum. If they think that there's someone who will clean up after them, they'll leave everything behind. I've had to clear up filled nappies, vomit, poo, blood, dog crap, and the amount of rubbish that people leave is obscene.

No, don't put that can of drink into the bin that's one meter away from you! Just leave it on the floor!
It is quite simple in my eyes, I pay (imo) a fortune to get to the cinema AND see a film, if I then get treated like crap ( like checking my id THREE times to see a 16+ film despite being 19 and arriving in my car with mates that all look 20+, or the staff being an arse about a bag of sweets I took from home) I treat the cinema crap too. It's so bad that I never really visit the cinema I just refuse to go there out of principle...

Rest of rant.

As above, it's simple, if I feel I'm treated well I'll be nice to people too. But if the cinema treats me as **** or in Maccy D's or KFC when there's something wrong with the food or I get a flat coke, I'll not clean up either but most of the time I clean it up. Pretty much all my cinema experiences were '''meh'' and I came to the conclusion that I'll not waste my cash on it any more.

Using the cinema example, I can understand your dissatisfaction. However, rather than wrecking the place, surely a complaint would be much better?

If you expand that to, for example, a shopping centre, where the cleaning staff have nothing to do with your shopping experience other than cleanliness, then I think it's unfair to make their lives more difficult just because you're disgruntled.

That's fine. I haven't been to a cinema in a long time myself for the poor service, and it's why I don't eat at crap fast food joints. Nonetheless, I still always clean up after myself.

As you put it, if you're not satisfied, just don't give them your business. Causing havoc is just childish. To make people suffer, who may not even have anything to do with your disgruntlement, just because you're annoyed is selfish and out of order. In my humble opinion, that is.

Different upbringing, I suppose.

I'm disappointed with the posters in here!

Just because there are cleaners doesn't mean you have to purposely leave any and all rubbish for them. Really, is it that hard to take an empty cup and throw it in the bin on the way out? I know a mate who's the same.. even laughing once when he kicked his popcorn on the way out

"It's their job. What would they be doing if they weren't cleaning?" doesn't wash with me. At the end of the day you wouldn't leave it on the floor of your own house, so I can't see why the principle is any different. If everyone took a little bit of the rubbish out then the cleaners could actually mop the screens, instead of having to rush around cleaning the mess before the next load of customers pile in. The amount of times I've sat down to a sticky floor or popcorn in the aisles because they ran out of time is crazy. Ultimately it degrades the experience.

Next time I'm in the urinals I'll **** on the floor and wipe my arse on the walls, just to give some one a job. Really, it's sad.

/rage.

I don't do it in places like that though, not that you can find me in a shopping center anyhow, my shopping center is tweakers.net ( dutch price comp. site for hardware & electronics) & ebay :p.

Leaving your plastic plate on the table with a bit of rubbish on it is not causing havok, it's just a way to show them I'm not satisfied... There's 1 KFC near my home which is always great, the hotwings are always cripy outside and soft&juicy inside, I'm a regular customer and I love it there, I usually get a couple of extra bits of chicken because they know me there, I always clean up there and wouldn't think of leaving it behind. Then there's another KFC near my uni in the city center, the quality is fluctuating extremely, I once ordered a hotwings menu and the hotwings all had burn spots on them and were not nice, the fries were dry and tough to bite, and the coke was flat & warm as if it's been waiting on the counter for an hour. When that happens thee is NO WAY IN HELL I'll clean the plate& rest up. Plus at those places there's not a cleaner but normal employees cleaning up the tables so the guy that I wasted my money on gets punished kinda.

Still, I don't get the OP question!

Ironically i had just came in from work and fancied a rant! I think i was just trying to see if i could persuade those that do it not to.

I guess leaving rubbish is not that big of a deal if its left neatly... and not thrown everywhere.

I will generally finish my bucket of popcorn and drink, put the drink in the empty bucket and put it under the seat. When the film finishes the majority of the time I will pick it up but sometimes it will, genuinely be forgotten. So shoot me.

However, people who intentionally scatter rubbish everywhere, leave wrappers all over the floor and on other seats is just plain ignorant. I have seen chewing gum stuck to seats, half chewed Starburst etc on the seats, which is just plain disgusting.

I just don't go to cinemas. They're ridiculously priced and full of annoying people who reduce my enjoyment of the film. I'd rather wait until I can rent it. The screen is far smaller at home, but everything else is far better.

So that solves the littering problem.

Next time i am at my local cinema i am going to buy a bag of peanuts and empty them all onto the floo,r just for the lulz.

At a cinema I would usually put all my rubbish into one drinks cup etc and leave it in the cupholder.

However, if I accidentally dropped something on the floor I wouldn't pick it up. The half-arsed cleaning they do in most cinemas with overly sticky floors; I ain't putting my hands anywhere near that!

When I was younger I went to see Apollo 13, to this date the worst film I've seen in the cinema. We got that bored me and my mates were sucking sweets and lobbing them at the screen trying to make them stick. We walked out half hour from the end.

How do you know that the sticky floor isn't due to people like you? People who spill loads of **** on the floor and cba to pick it up?

I dont understan why 100% of the time when going to the cinema i have to pay £10+ for a ticket then £10+ for a bag of sweets from a bunch miserable tools who moan about their job and then to sit in a dirty room with a sticky floor and all other kinds of crap over the place.

Probably because they don't want sweet wrappers getting rustled about and horsed into a bin during the film, distracting noise.

I wouldn't expect people to hop up, walk along the row, and go to the bin in the middle of the movie, but it would make it a whole load easier at the end of the film to take your stuff and bin it.

Because I like to create jobs. I don't do it because I'm an arse. I do it genuinely because I know if I don't do it, the cinema company won't need to hire you and then you'll be out of a job.

You're welcome.

Do you take your plates back to the bar after eating a meal in a pub? No, that's because someone is paid to do it for you, and that cost is included in the price of the meal.

^^ that is the argument i'd love to take with this, but in truth.. i'm actually really weird and you lot have just made me realise. I actually often do take my plates back to the bar, and the weird thing is.. the last 2 or 3 times i've been to the pub with people to eat, if I pick up my plate and take it.. other people do too! They've always done it when i have!

Food for thought ( Pun intended )
