I need to get sky tv activated asap. Is there anywhere offering deals better than going through sky directly?

I already have a thompson HD box, so i may well simply get a card activated, but looking at it sky are offering a "free" HD box in exchange for signing to 12 months of the HD pack (so £120).

It would be nice to have a new box to say the least, so this appears to perhaps be the best route.

Anything better around?

I'd suggest signing up to quidco and going to the website through them. That way you get about £100 cashback (minus quidcos £5 yearly charge) and you still end up with £95 in your pocket.

Throw in the M&S vouchers if you refer a friend who also has sky and you'll get about £150 of stuff for free aswell as SKY

What about for those of us who have to order over the phone because of where we live - we can't use quidco!

(dam stupid address!!)

Could try ordering it for a different address and then ringing up immediately to change it?

(Note the above may not work but it could be worth a go?)

I think for Quidco to pay out the install has to be done entirely online (i.e. if you change details by phone after ordering it'll invalidate the quidco).

Could be worth a try if you can't find anything else though

should still be able to use quidco as long as its registered to your bank/billing address - I dont think it checks address against the installation address.

£85 cashback (the top rate is for broadband and phone and whatnot).

Good offer. Hmm.

Does anybody know how long they take to come and install it? I wonder if they could simply post me the new box rather than bother coming round. Would save a lot of hassle.

The problem is more down to the actual call - the entire process has to be done online, so regardless of what they do during the call, if you call them to change anything it stands a good chance of invalidating the quidco tracking.

Ended up just getting a new sub over the phone. Automated ways of signing up recognised my address as already having a subscription.

Are you able to get sky+ HD without a landline? On the website it needs you to enter a landline number....I don't have a landline!

Just give them any old number, it needs a number for the order i think, but the box doesnt need a line to function.

Hmmm...that will be hard without a landline

I gave up with the landline after about 3 months and haven't heard anything from them (a year later).

You can pay a little bit extra to have it installed without a landline so you don't have to worry about it at all though (you may have to phone them instead of doing online though).

the main issue for phone lines is multiroom

Sky dont seem that bothered about single installs, we had a letter about our boxes not phoning home within a month or two of the phone wiring going wrong.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but are there any particularly amazing sky deals coming soon?

Looking to get sky+HD via topcashback, so atm I can get £75 cashback and £50 M&S vouchers.

Anything better on the horizon? (Guessing not, this looks pretty good deal wise!!)

Just thought I'd check before ordering.

We just had a letter through the door from Sky offering us a free HD box with free self setup and 50 days free HD sub, is there anything better out there?
