Hi
I think I have a nasty virus on my computer, basically I keep getting popups telling me I have been infected by a trojan or somethingand I cant open any programs with a message appearing and telling me my computer is infected, then a scan automatically starts and when I try and start up windows explorer,it brings me to a site where It tries to sell me anti virus software. Also sometimes when I restart my computer in normal mode I dont get any popups or any warnings and everything seems fine

also I cant seem to get on the internet (Im currently using my 3 dongle) but whenever I plug in my eternet cable it wont connect, even though when I plug the ethernet cable into my sister laptop it works fine,it wont even connect in safe mode.

please help
thanks

what antivirus are you using?
have you tried running a full scan in safemode?

then download on your sisters laptop malwarebytes. http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html and put it onto your pc and run a full scan
also download combofix.
and try one of these free antivirus rescue discs
http://www.techmixer.com/free-bootable-antivirus-rescue-cds-download-list/
you just download it and burn it to a cd.
i use imgburn

or just backup everything you need while in safe mode, and reinstall windows

edit.
you should put your question in the antivirus thread http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18115179

Would a reinstall of windows vista cure the problem?I never had any anyvirus software, idiotic beyond believe I know :o

Malwarebytes normally gets rid of this. You might need to manually copy the definitions off a clean PC (google how to do this or ask and I'll post it). If you can't get it too run it is worth trying renaming the .exe.

If you can't get any .exes too run it likely means that the file associations have been changed. Copying this into notepad and saving it as a reg file then merging it will fix that.

Code:
 Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.exe\shell\open\command]

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\secfile\shell\open\command]

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe\shell\open\command]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe]
@="exefile"
"Content Type"="application/x-msdownload"

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\secfile]

The internet problem is most likely caused by it adding a fake proxie, simply changing proxie settings to automatic in internet explorer will fix this.

how do I do this?

thanks for the help,appreciated greatly.

Try McAfee Stinger and Dr.Web CureIt. Google them Both free, both run inside windows. I think there is also a bootable Dr.Web CureIt CD/ISO that you can download.

Once you have scanned with Malwarebytes and a full AV program [Eset do a very good free online scan!], run combofix [not in Safe Mode] as Admin. This should fix various issues viruses cause.
