Although I've spent a fair bit on my girlfriend, I don't really see it as a waste of money per say. I mean, I've resisted the urge to buy a few really expensive things that I would have got if she weren't around, so I most likely would have used the money I spent on her anyway to buy said expensive items (mainly a new TV for my room and a new graphics card).
What definitely was a total waste of money, though, was a pair of tickets I bought a couple of weeks ago off 'the bay'.
I initially went on Ticket Master to order some tickets for Jimmy Carr's new tour. I decided I wouldn't get them at the time because I didn't know where my girlfriend would want to sit, so I left them. She then comes round mine for the weekend, but I completely forgot to order the tickets while she was here. The following Monday, I go back to Ticket Master and find that all tickets for the show had been sold (no matter what option I tried, I couldn't find any available tickets). With the knowledge that the show had seemingly sold out, I went on 'the bay' to try my luck. I found a seller who had 10 STALLS - ROW C (third back from the front) tickets for sale. Unfortunately, this would cost my twice as much as they were going for on Ticket Master, yet I bought two without hesitation.
Anyway, roll forward to this Wednesday just gone, and I go onto the venue's official site to see if they really had completely sold out. Although the seats weren't brilliant, they still had tickets available. Although a bit pee'd off, I wasn't completely gutted because the tickets I had bought, albeit twice the price, were vastly superior to the "best available" that I found on the venue's website. The only thing that really annoyed me, though, was that the website was selling them with Ticket Master, so I don't really get why Ticket Master themselves didn't have any more for sale.
Just a simple case of Sod's law, really. At least I know to double-check next time.
