3x dvi monitors
1x HD6870

2 monitors connected on DVI
1 on mini display to DVI adaptor

I can get 2 monitors to work at a time but not 3. Catalyst control lets me exted to 2 but not 3 one always has tp be disabled.
FS - I have been at this for about 6 monmths now lol (see my previous posts)

I though this new card would run up to 6 monitors. Surely ATI have this cracked 3 monitors from one card by now.
Is there something I am missing in my frustration:D
Apart from buying entirely new monitors.

I really dont want to put my old 5770 in as well as the new card for the 3 rd monitor.

thanks for all help

basically i can have 2 of any mixture but not 3
as soon as the third monitor is connected on any connection, an existing display drops out

I really though using 2x DVI's and one mini display port should have been ok but no:

Already tried:
2x DVI & 1 Mini Display port to DVI -No luck
2x DVI & 1 HDMI - no Luck (thats to be expected)
1x DVI & 1 HDMI & 1x Mini Display port to DVI -No luck

Next I may get another Mini Display to DVI cable & try:

1x DVI & 2X mini display port

If this does not work, I'm stuck
The flippin MSI hub thing that ATI shows in their fancy graphic on multi moniors, doent exist yet. Apple make one but it's£250

As others have said, grab yourself an active adapter. I have been running 3 samsungs in eyefinity for a while withot problem using the sapphire active dp adapter :)

Its worth the £20 - also there was a thread where easyrider requested some active mini dp - dvi and Gibbo is on the case so expect to see them in the overclockers store soon :)

Edit: didn't see that the thread was posted above

cheers guys for the info. I though with these new cards with so many outputs that active adaptors would be redundant. I have 2 active adaptors already, but they are full size DP. I may wait until the new mini one is in stock and try that.

how about guy displayport monitors in the future?

i thought anyone want to do eyefinity knows, by now, that displayport monitor guarenteed to work and works best.

also, does those cards not come with mini-DP to DP converter? those manufacturers have really dropped the balls on this one. mini this and mini that, no one's going to use them if their cables don't fit. just giving these new ports a bad reputation.

sure for future but I already got 3 excellent samsung monitors, don't want to buy new ones, especially as most only max at 1900x1080 not 1200

DVI surely is still a widely used interface, at least for now.

I don't mind things changing, heck it drives the market but I think ATI really need to get this sorted and be totally clear with this new card and list exactly what ports will work simultaneously. They do a graphic on their site but looking at it you would be forgive for thinking 2xDVI and 1x mini display should work fine.

I cab understand needing an active adaptor on older card but this card is pretty new.

I have decide to put in the HD5770 card as well as the 6870. At least I can run 3 monitors from the 9 available outputs -lol
