A nifty trick if you fancy an extended holiday at the end of April next year!!

Under UK and EU law you are entitled to 28 days holiday. 8 or 7 of those days are the public holidays you've mentioned.

They might ask you to work them, but it's at your discretion (even if they try bullying you into do it). If you do work them then you are either entitled to more pay or a day off at a later date.

yes you are entitled to 28 days however the company is within it's rights to class those public holidays as part of that entitlement, leaving 20 days that can be booked at your convenience

I fall under the public hols included in my 28 but will still be booking these days off tomorrow, I can either have two long weekends with a short period at work between or 11 solid days off, I'll take the latter :D

Unfortunately we only get the bank holidays themselves off as part of our entitlement, and one of us will be working on those days (double pay). So it really doesn't apply for me. That and I work Saturdays. But hey, good tip for those who do get those days. :)

I would too my friend.

Well spotted, although I'll not give you an internet high five as I visited your sig without boobie results. ><

Yes, they do. Most companies include bank holidays in your holiday allowance.

That's what we offer, only ones we specify someone must take are Christmas and New Year.

If yours doesnt, thats great. Mine doesnt either. But we are lucky.

Are you sure about this? I must have worked for about 10 companies in my life from various different sectors and none took bank holidays from my allowance. If 'most' companies do this then I must be more than lucky.

nice! my work always closed thursday before good friday and tuesday after easter monday so i'll have 12 days break by using only 3 days leave :D

will book tomorrow morning!

Will only cost me 3.5 days leave. I quite often take the week off after a BH. Half day Fridays are the way forward! Always feel like I'm being robbed on Good Friday though :(
