Just wondering if the new Nvidia mobile chips suffer from overheating
like the older ones did some time ago ?
think they used to melt the motherboard the older chips.

looking at a new dell xps15 with 1GB NVIDIA GeForce® GT 420M in it.

thanks.

It will depend a lot on the cooling used by whoever makes the laptop tbh... try and find ones based on a clevo chassis as they put some decent cooling on them (tho adds to the weight).

Cheers guys.
no not planning on using it for games.

I think the chip that used to get to hot was the 8400m from nvidia. lots of them were used in the Dell Studio laptops and many people had to have their motherboards replaced due to it warping it.

I would probably imagine that they have fixed this floor in their mobile designs but you never know hence the inquiry lol. ;)
