im after a pair because im a big pervert..

no seriously i enjoy walking the mutt around my local fields and forest, normally between around 1130pm before i hit the sack, bit bored of the torch now and fancied trying some night vision goggles, lots of dear and monkjacks in forest and be cool to see what's happening..

so anyone got a pair they recommend, what sort of cash for a entry level set? would ideally like rechargeable battery pack as i hear they are killers on the old AA's

you're going to want Gen2 at least, they're about 20 times as light-sensitive as top-of-the-range Gen1+ units so they can be used without any directed illumination.

for a Gen2 unit you're looking £1k minimum for a unit worth owning.

Unless you willing to spend some serious money, I'd personally just stick with using a torch, and maybe invest some money in a better torch etc.

the funny thing is i have been doing this late night walk since i got married in the summer and i still crud myself each night :D

wow, so £100 from ebay is not a goer :D

these people are talking about proper passive ones, Active IR monoculars can be had very cheaply.

^ the mw2 ones are basically the cheapest ****ist kind of active IR ones sold at about twice the price they should cost and in an insanely large "container" to make them look like proper passive one.

Go down to solider of fortune an pick up a catalogue

i see on a deal site you can get the Mw2 pack for £50 odd quid now? worth a pot ?

No, they're a cheap IR model in a **** housing, just get the cheap ir model, same quality, better comfort.

or better yet just tape your camera phone to your face an carry an ir torch.

Sounds like you've tried both and are happy with the latter. :D

How do you get bored of a torch?

Camcorder with NV mode?

this TBH could get a digital 8 handy cam with NV and super nightshot for about £30-40 with extras aswell (check auction sites) and as a bonus you could record any animal etc you see on your travels.
