Hey guys, looking to upgrade my cooler from stock AMD, I have a pretty cheap mid tower case (fantastic for price, just lacking space) and I pretty much need a cooler sub 150-1mm in height, I was looking at pairing a Zalman CNPS10X Flex with an Apache black 120mm, I may get into overclocking in the near future as I honestly might as well, Anybody have any experience with the Zalman and/or apache and recommend/have any issues with it? Also would it I see much benefit in getting two fans in Push/pull? Regards

I have the Flex with a Arctic cooling F12 on it. It's a good combination and keeps the E8500 in my second rig nice and cool. Below 40 degrees (can't tell you exactly as the sensors are stuck) at stock speed and in the high 40's, low 50's at 3.8ghz. Never tried push and pull on it but there is a 140mm exhaust fan just above it.

Thanks Wing, I did notice the performance of the vipers, but the fact it will severely clash with my colour scheme kind of put me off

Lol:p. For overclocking you need the best that you can get:). As for colour scheme I think you can repaint the fan but someone with better insight can give more appropriate answer.

i use the flex with a viper and it keeps my q9550 @3.4 under 60c at full load, i run it full speed all the time and it is noisy but not to bad.

do you have a windowed case or something that it will spoil your colour scheme ?

thanks :)

doesn't look exactly like that now though :( i had to change the 4870x2 to a gtx 460 as the 4870x2 blocked 4 of my 6 sata ports and the gigabyte gtx 460 was one of the few cards short enough not to block them :(

this is it now -

the old pic showed the cooler better though so thats why i posted that one originaly :)

You're probably right, I don't even have a side window, :D Temps seem good with the zalman + viper. As for the 4870x2, I'd have thought the gtx 460 would be an improvement?

I have a flex on an i5-760 @ 4ghz. I used a swift flow fan @ 1300 rpm, and added a red wing for the push/pull, dropped the temps by another 2-3 degrees.

yeah temps are quite good with the zalman with the viper on it, probably as good as the tuniq tower i had before which was a great cooler.

the 4870x2 scored a fair bit more in benches than the gtx 460 1gb i have now but in games there doesn't feel like that much difference between the two.
