Just wondering what people think would be the best things to do about this...

I've sold a gfx card on the bay and the buyer has emiled me saying that the card that I listed as a 9600GT is showing up in his machine as a 7900GS.

It's a card I lent someone at work months and months ago and I'm wondering if they have given me the wrong one back and I've sold them a 7900GS claiming it was a 9600GT!

What's the best thing to do?

I was thinking about offering them an apology and a refund, but even if I do that they will have to post the card back, should I offer to pay for the postage back too?

I sold the card for £24.55

Looks like either way I'm due my first negative on there :(

Cheers,

G

If you just say it was a mistake and give a full refund including the cost of postage, you will most likely receive a positive I think at worst you will get a neutral.

You'll most likely have to pay return postage as it's hardly the buyer's fault.

Just explain to him that it was a mistake.

I wouldn't give him a negative, he's not done anything wrong lol

Out of interest, I'm guessing a 7900GS is considerably worse than a 9600GT?

Thanks,

G

Best thing you can do now is to reassure the seller that it was a genuine mistake and that starts by completely refunding the cost of the card and postage for returning the item.

Also if you want to get get rid of the 7900GS and avoid postage costs, you could probably ask the seller if they want to keep it at a significantly reduced price and refund the difference.

Or he could be trying to trick you by sending his old card back... but unfortunatly if you didn't check the one you sent before sending you have no way to know... I'd put a bet on whoever you lent it to screwing you around tho.

As above just apologise and explain the mistake, if your really worried about the possibility of a negative feedback offer the buyer your telephone number, when theres a fault or a problem with a sale i would allways offer my number it puts both sides at ease after a quick chat :)

Do you have a link to the auction?

Here's a photo of a 7900GS I sold earlier this year. All 7900GS variations look pretty similar. Does the card look similar to this?

The 9600GT looks different to the 7900GS.

Yeah need bigger picture - some of the 7900GS looked like that but so does some 9600GT models.
