no one on there seems to know what it is. And I'm using my Google-Fu skills but no success.

It's on a 1 series but I can't see anything on the BMW options list or any mention of something even remotely sounding like that picture

It's certainly not part of the 2010 Premium Package mirror, which has everything from Electronic Toll Collection and Universal Remote Control.

Nope. There are BMW mirrors out there with the compass that have no "load" slot.

The car is a UK car, and the only region specific toll system that BMW cater for (IIRC) is Japan.

Whoever first bought that car certainly didn't hold back on the options list.

However something doesn't sit right with me about that car. Is it just me or is there quite a gap in the front bonnet, passenger door and boot lid.

Could it be some kind of radar scanner for speed cameras? Might be illegal hence why he didn't mention it in text?

Yh, was just pointing out you could see it in that picture if someone didn't spot it :cool:

That is not any type of dimming sensor I've seen before on BMWs That looks more like the compass display.

Furthermore, it appears to be oval, which is reserved for actual M cars but the picture of the card slot sems to be a different shape mirror.

So lets review:

Universal Remote (unlikely, as this isn't usually a card)
Toll road (unlikely in this country)
Speed Trap detector (no)
Sat Nav flash unit (please, the car has SatNav via iDrive)
If anything, it could be for a TV card, although the location is very odd!!

Either way, I don't think the car shipped with that mirror and it's been added afterwards

It also appears to have a minidisc player??

£7.5k for a nice spec 1 series seems a good deal.
