2011 Industrial Placement Ideas ?

Hey, I'm now looking for placements in Programming (Mainly) for next years placement.

I have already signed up for CERN, GCHQ and soon Lighthouse Systems. I have Intel on the list but can't think of any others: I just did a spot of reading in another post and Atos Origin looks promising.

Does anyone else know Software Developing companies that offer 1 Year Industrial Placements.

I'm doing BSc Computer Science: and yes my University does have a careers service with positions but it can't harm to ask here if there is other stuff.


The only thing I can think of that will restrict me is area: London (Closer to Reading) would be the best.

Best bet is probably going through the Uni's careers service and seeing where previous students have been, unless you actually know any companies round there? From what I remember of Reading's open day (other than that they gave us free lunch ) was that they seemed very hot on getting their students placements .

I could name a few companies round here that take CompSci placements, but here ≠ Reading so that'd be pretty useless!

Also, please remember what GCHQ is - an intelligence agency - if you wish to apply for a position here you must limit those you tell about your application to your immediate family (parents and/or siblings) and your partner.

Have you tried the GradJobs/Prospects and TotalJobs websites? They have a long list of companies who offer placements

As said already, your placement office is your best bet, but also check out Gradcracker if you haven't already.
