Lactose free protein for recovery

Hi all,

I have a lactose intollerance and so can't have whey or milk. What is the easiest way to get protien for recovery after my runs? I have tried soy protein poweder but it was horibble and didn't really mix too well.

Isolate is supposedly lactose free.

Pea protein (which mings IMO) is a possibility
Rice protein
Hemp protein

All other options.

All best blended with some flavouring though.

An old friend I once knew had some of this for a while, I did try some one day and I must admit it is absoloutely fowel! Worse than anything ive tasted, but he liked it and it worked for his lactose intolerence. As mentioned if you can flavour it then you shall be fine.
 
I switched from whey to pea protein a few months ago. At first I couldn't stomach the taste, it triggered my gag reflex and I was close to getting rid of the lot. Fortunately though I realised that holding my breath while downing in, then taking a sip of water afterwards make it so I can't even taste it any more.
 
As suggested, try a whey isolate. Steer clear of whey concentrate, and blends of concentrate/isolate.

Most isolates have a protein content around 90% (as the product contains more protein and lower lactose).
 
Hi all,

Got my chocolate isolate whey powder (actually tastes quite nice!). However, since having it I've been windy all day! Thankfully I had a day off work, anyone else experienced this? What can I do to prevent this. Should I drink with food?
 
If youve just started taking in extra protein again it can upset your stomach slightly and cause excess wind, it should settle down in a few days

i just threw some cadburys hot chocolate in and mixed them together.. but the pea stuff is pretty bad.. still i only have about half a key to go, them im onto the hemp!
