There's plenty of bands with rubbish lyrics, but the most perplexing song I know in terms of popularity vs. triteness and sheer terribleness is Life by Des'ree.

At the Drive-In are one of my favourite bands of all time, but considering very few people can even establish their own understanding to some of their (and Mars Volta's) songs, let alone agree on them, I'd say, to all intents and purposes, they are essentially meaningless.

While I think there may be some vague meaning behind his songs, and there are some brilliant single lines, there's a whole lot of pretty-sounding linguistic nonsense in there too.

Unless you happen to know what "contusion is hungry" really means?
