Hi guys, wondered of you could advise.

System powers up, but nothing shows up on the screen. I've checked the monitor, cables, graphics card. I've also checked all electrical connections, pumps running & water is moving. There's no audio warning sounds from the MB. I've cleared the CMOS with & without a battery pull. The system is less than a year old but the Tagen PSU mus be around 6 years old now.

What else can I checked?

AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 / Asus M4A785TD-V Evo / Geil 4GB (2x2GB) PC3-12800 CL7-7-7-24 / Tagen 500w PSU

Thanks

I think that you have probably stated it, the PSU. Could do with checking voltages with a mutimeter or test in another machine.

Update - I had a spare 10mins, so I thought I would try a few things. I had already tested both the onboard GPU & my GC. However when I remove my GC the system boots up. If I put the GC back in, but still keep the DVI attached to the onboard GPU, the system will not start up again.

I'm thinking this is a faulty PSU, near the end of it's life. If it was the GC at fault it shouls still boot?

I had a similar problem a week or so ago. I lost count the amount of times I took the card out, put it back in, took it out again, came on here for help, searched google in vein, took RAM out and put that back in etc etc and my problem was due to a bit of metal shorting out the graphics card. I was literally at the stage where I was going to stump up hard earned cash for a new GPU and then saw right in front of me what I had overlooked previously. I suppose what my point is, make sure you rule everything out before you end up spending any money, the silly things are often the things you don't even notice or look for.

This is basicly what I was gonna say lol

Check for metal/filings in the PCI slot...

Hi I've got a HD4760 GC. I will give the above a try when I get back. I'm going to ask someone to test the GC too. I really don't fancy replacing the MOBO.

Thanks again.

Back home & thought I would see if the PC would be start. It now won't start with the GC in or out, so it's getting worse. I cleaned the contacts on the GC & puts some canned air into the PCI slot with a quick brush & it had no effect.

Will still get my pal to test the GC, but I'm going to buy a new PSU. I don't mind getting once since mines 6-7 years old.

I just hope it's not the mobo.

Ok new PSU fitted (OZC StealthXtreme 2 - seems good but cables way too short). The system without the GC is fine again. However with the GC it will not boot up. So will get my pal to test the GC, which will indicate if it's the mobo or the GC.

The PSU was dead for sure, but not bad for 6-7 tears. At least I can use my PC now.
