Ati 5770 or GTX 460

For pure performance, the Nvidia card wins that pretty handily.

The 5770 is a pretty niche card these days, best suited to entertainment systems and micro systems. If you want it for gaming and you have a case with the space and the cooling and you do not require silence, the choice is clear. When it comes to what the choose amongst the 460s, that is mostly a budget and resolution concern. Get the most performance for what you can afford.

460 768mb version beats the 5770 in dx10 games hands down. but in dx11 games it humps it. 1gb model just humps it like a small ***** dog.

Ok that's guys. It's pretty clear which one would be the better lol
My next question would be will my antec 380 W power supply be enough to power the 460??

Well you are comparing a £100 card to a £120 card so it's not really a fair contest. From a power usage PoV then AMD are better atm. The 6850 uses less power than a 460 1GB but is slightly faster, while the 5770 uses ~35watts less than a 460 768MB but is slower(20-25% slower). Nvidia have more aggressive pricing atm, AMD have the better tech.

I've had both of these cards and I'd go for the 460.

Granted, the 5770 was a heap of crashy scrap that got RMA'd, but nonetheless I still think the 460 is a lot faster.

nearly every review of the 6850 ive read it is a few fps slower than the 1gb 460.

Huge performance difference? Probably not.

Significant Performance difference probably worth the extra dosh? Yeah, I think so.

That said, I've not read a lot about the Asus range of 460's. The ones most highly rated are the Gigabyte and MSI versions by virtue of their high quality cooler and meaty stock overclock..

EDIT: Changed MSI link to the HAWK.

Don't know how big of a difference it is but my brother has a 460 768mb and it is still much faster than any 5770. The 1gb will obviously be better but if your on a budget 768mb is still a great card.
