Is it Apple's faults that TV adverts are so irritating at the moment?

Is there an advert on TV at the moment that isn't soundtracked by some "quirky" female folk singer warbling over a piano, ukulele or barely strummed guitar? It seems the ideal combination is:

1. "Unique" female singer (unique in this case means singing in such a way that words are either barely enunciated or mispronounced) e.g.
2. Perhaps covering some well known song - with bonus points if the vocal line is sung in a completely different way to the original song e.g.
3. ???
4. Profit

These ads really grind my gears and only seem to sell to one half of the population. I blame Apple because I'm pretty sure they're guilty for using these bloody folksy advert songs to advertise the iPod/Macbook (as above) that everyone else seems to have picked up. If Apple advertised the iPad through explosions, loud music and partial nudity I'd have bought three! They should all take some tips from Sky's advertising team:

That is all.

I hate any and all advertisements. I still remember the days on the internet way back when, when content was all that existed on websites. Now you have to trawl through an ocean of **** to find out that what has been posted as information has been six-steps-to from another source and they're all linking to each other to increase their google ad revenue.

What he said!

+1

I agree, I hate those kind of adverts. The new BT Infinity one makes my blood boil for no particular reason bar what's in the OP. I should watch less TV.

I rarely watch TV because of adverts and when I do it's the BBC so I don't have to watch adverts. What really irked me about BBC though was they clogged up the HD channel with stupid **** like Gavin & Stacey. HD should be for movies and documentaries. Thankfully though, they've rolled out BBC 1 HD, so that should hopefully free up the main HD channel for more programming centred on wildlife killing and ******* each other. Which is much more interesting than anything that ITV has put out since they ended Morse and A Touch Of Frost.

Thank you OP, I've been saying this ever since the FEIST advert came out but nobody seemed to understand.

It's lifestyle music.

Ahh a Nissan advert, I really hate the Nissan QASHQAI advert. I cant quite put my finger on why I hate it so much, I think it's the fact they have blatantly copied the idea from Sony, but failed.

Oh and they really should fire the person responsible for the music on their adverts.

Lifestyle music, eh? As opposed to what exactly?

It's selling a lifestyle.

The biggest buyers of mobile phones are the female underclass. These adverts are basically saying, "Buy our phone and your life will be instantly transformed from a living hell of council estate drudgery to a blissfully chilled-out dreamworld."

That music is the opposite of what me and the OP are on about.

Or this one for the new Saab 95

It's a Apple car for Apple users. What a bunch of... impressionable people ;)

You're on an internet forum moaning about it.

The ad has obviously worked.

The typical adverts that tend to get people talking are designed to be annoying/catchy and therefore talked about.

These are just ******* rubbish, not their intention. They've gone out with the intention of making a 'good' advert and have failed.

I think Apple are less to blame and more the creative industry as a whole, trends and fads come and go. Like clothes dip in and out of fashion the same applies to television and film and music etc.

Although the Juke advert picked out OP is a rarer example of a half-decent advert, music tastes aside (it's really not that bad, cheer up) there is a whole lot worse out there.

It's not just Apple, they're all to blame for this endless catchy dross they churn out. Best just turn the sound down when they’re on.

The ads over here are even worse than the UK, certainly in terms of frequency and duration. A typical 60 minute show will only feature 40 minutes of content. Does my head in.

For some reason, the wife won't let me swap channel because she "wants to see this advert". I mean seriously, WTF?

I mainly watch the BBC, except for certain types of series, The Event, BSG, you get the idea but i usually watch the versions without adverts so i can honestly say it doesnt effect me, but after watching these adverts yes they are crap, but i realise one thing i am not the demographic these are aimed at, these are adverts for females. Except for the Sky one but that is plain old crap.

I just remembered another awful advert- the car one that goes "I just want to be ok, be ok, be ok". I think it's finally been pulled from rotation this week, thank God.
