Hello,

I looking for a premium 2.1 speaker set to complete my home media setup.
For a while I had my eyes on the Razor Mako THX 2.1 speaker set. Unfortunately I did not have my eyes that closely as the product has now been discontinued.

They have to look professional and provide good quality sound. Some of you may be asking why only 2.1? Well at the heart of the setup is a Mac Mini, so 2.1 will be fine. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Not heard anyone bad mouth the Aego-M's, although not heard them myself. I use Audioengine A5's, you can get a subwoofer for them but then you are talking big monehs.

However, I'm suprised how reviews / feedback for the Aego is without fault. Everyone likes them?

Pretty much, they are really nice quality speakers and the price isn't bad either. My parents liked them so much they got two sets. When playing music I find the quality a fair bit better than my z5500s, but I suppose that isn't saying much.

Logitech Z523 only £60

Simply because they allow more than one device to be connected at the same time, I think they would be good enough for your needs.

The Acoustic Energy Aego M's are probably the sweet spot but should be £90 not £120.

Cant recommend spending more than £100 on any pc speakers tbh as they all lack midrange and you'd be better off with an amp and some quality small bookshelfs/monitors.

I own logitech z4's and of course even the cheapo gale mini monitors put them to shame.

Yes had my aego-ms for about a year now so impressed I have now used them on my samsung LCD as I took down my samsung surround speakers as they were so large, the beauty of the aego are they are small and discrete and a nice heavy weight to them and sound good , good price too :)

The Aego M's seem to the best straight up 2.1 set of general multimedia speakers you can get, although I've seen some people say the mids are a bit lacking for things like dialogue, and the bass is a bit lean compared to the more expensive Logitech speakers, but that's just because those are muddy and overly bassy anyway.

Above that you'd be entering the buy 2.0s (passive bookshelfs or active monitors) + buy separate sub territory, which gets a lot more expensive fast, starting off with something like the AudioEngine A2s or A5s and either getting the sub they sell or another one to add to it. Above that, things like Rockits, Adam A-series, Mackies blah blah blah.

I'm going to get the Aegos myself, at least for the PC/gaming side of things.
