Welcome meeting for a call centre job

This week I've been invited to a welcome meeting for a potential call centre job. Has anyone else had experience with these, as to what goes on and stuff? From what I understand it's with a group of other candidates.

Also, what to wear? Do you reckon it'll be a formal thing?

Dress to impress, so go as formal would be my advise.
Try to make yourself stand out from the crowd as such, but don't act bigheaded ;)
 
One of the buildings near dearn valley?
Think the dress code in them is casual, so I would advise smart casual for the session.

Staff turnover in these places is crazy, so at least look like you want to be there more than 1 month!
If they make you take mock calls make sure you don't give information to the caller unless they have passed dpa (know a few places do this!).
Take part in the activities and don't look put out by them, be nice. Not much can go wrong tbh

Bingo.

I've been in one of the buildings before and noticed only a few people dressed smart, that's what got me thinking. Didn't want to turn up in a suit and find everyone else in jeans and t-shirt :D

Think I'll just go in shirt + nice jeans, nothing OTT :)
 
Ah blame my stupid fat fingers and phone for that one! That's actually not bad, some of the other things it's correcting to are shockingly wrong!

Don't even get me started on my iPod touch, trying to use skype / msn on that is a nightmare! :mad:

i would still go in a suit tie, if not then be casual with trousers shirt and a tie, maybe a smart jacket.

don't worry about how other people look, just focus on yourself, how badly do you want the job

Theresa case for looking too smart though. Smart but no tie would be a better option
 
If you came into my interview group not looking your best that would be an instant mark against you even if you are just answering a phone.

I strongly suggest that you consider this, being over dressed does no harm, being under dressed for what someone may expect can do irreparable damage to your chances

Also a lot of calls centres operate a relaxed dress code for the working environment, this does not mean you should ever slack while attending an interview, group or other.
 
And maybe think that you are completely inappropriate for a basic job in an industry that has a high turnover of staff. You don't want them thinking you will be out the door as soon as something else comes up.

Op- you could always call hr or your agency and question them on expected dress code
 
Yes because wearing a tie means that you are obviously too good to work in a call centre. Seriously?

I best go and sack half the staff we've taken on over the last year or so in case they leave.
