My father in law gave me some items of Railwayana a few years ago and I sold 3 engine shed plates on eBay. They made about £300. Not bad for 3 chunks of rusty old metal lol.
I've got another 3 in a sack somewhere...:D

sold an ati 5770 for £120 last week :D a lot of people kept asking for £75 including postage.

My dad bought a snap on bike jacket for £50 and its worth £200+ !

Bought a book back in 1996 for circa £25 from a bookshop. I didnt realise how rare it was when I sold it a few weeks back for £421... About a 1600% profit :)

I admit to exploiting the Christmas toy "must have" a few times.

Best ever gain was buying laser eye surgery though. Saved half price.

I picked up an arabic coffee table with an inscribed copper top, rather dirty, from a local house clearance place for £12. Cleaned it up and sold it on Ebay for £34 as I recall.

Is ebay still worth it now by the time they get thier fees/final listing % and then paypal takes a swipe as well.

first year I put them on the bay they went for $6000

apparently they are the hardest tickets in Sport to get, you have to be a patron, and a guy I work with is, i sold them for him and he gave me half, not bad

Does getting your leg over with the sister of a local(ish) lady seller you went to pick up an item from in person count as an unexpected gain? :D

Was feeling nostalgic and bought one of the classic PowerBooks from the States for £150 (avoided import duty too), got bored of it after a few weeks and sold it for £300 on eBay :)
