I have been with HSBC for some 18 years, but wanted to switch to Lloyds as have the joint account with them and also have the silver membership for insurance purposes.

i guess they can transfer all my DD's and so on, but worried about losing history with a bank if that makes sense? if i ever needed a loan or something??

its not a problem at all.

just tell you new bank to do everything for you. cards will overlap... i had no trouble.

your credit history is not affected.

No reason not to, relationships with banks mean nothing. I switched a few months back and it was easy as pie.

Can't you have 2 accounts in 2 different banks?

yeah that's what i currently have, but it means i logon to two banks most days, it makes sense to have one, and also then have the cover and protection i get from the llyods one my current account, which i don't have with HSBC.
