Are Treyarch riding on Infinity Wards success?

Why not enjoy it for what it is? I started the campaign last night and played through around 5 missions. Yes they were short and sure they weren't anything we hadn't seen before, but I had fun and it was enjoyable.

I haven't even touched the multiplayer or zombie modes yet and that's where the longevity comes in.

Can't believe I haven't touched zombies yet. I was still playing WAW zombies until a few month back. Cant wait to stuck in to new zombies. Will be picking up the old WAW zombies maps when they are up on market place as well.

Also your title is a bit wrong I don't think Treyarch is cashing in on Infinity wards success I think its Activision cashing in on the Call of Duty name ;)

I doubt Treyarch even has much choice in what the game would be like these days, looked what happened to Infinity Ward when they questioned Activision :p

I agree with the above post, but also with the OP that Treyarch fall short. Maybe more content is the best they could do with 2.6x the resources. I would have liked to have seen better maps, textures, sounds, player models, animation etc.

Exactly. An activision spokeman was heard to say
"They (Treyarch) are doing as they're bally well told or they can get to the jobcentre just like those blighters at IW!" (true story and I can't reveal my source!)

I'm loving the MP, I hated MW2 MP with the gay one shot snipers running round with hitboxes way off you body and those annoying commando pro jabbers. Looking at the kill cams on Black Ops at least I get killed by people actually hitting my body not thin air in my general area. Feel free IW fanboys to go back to MW2 ;).

Given the complete disintegration of infinity ward I wouldn't be surprised if from now on infinity ward start riding on treyarch's success!

gay one shot

I admit he's very good at the game but the jury is still out on his sexuality. :p

I really like the WAW SP and MW1 & 2 SP. I do think there are a few too many times in Black Ops though where you don't have any control over whats going on. I have found myself sat watching the screen and my character just sitting about or walking along whilst i'm just waiting to regain control; gets a bit frustrating after a while.

Still to play the multiplayer, am leaving that till i've done the SP. Overall enjoying it though; especially after wasting 4.5 hour on that Medal of Honor tripe.

blimey - I didn't realise so many people liked WAW. I found it a bit old hat,but I'm really quite bored of WW2 in FPS games as the weapons seem to be really lacking :(

As already pointed out by a couple of others.
It's nothing to do with either company riding on the other's success.

Activision owns the brand and publishes it and puts a great deal of money into it.
The whole reason they even have a two studio setup is so that they can be sure to have a COD brand game making them money every year. If one game is especially successful, such as MW, they will naturally push the other developer to go with the same setup.

Activision is the one calling all the shots here.
