Minecraft OCuK Forum Members Server Thread

I emailed you a link to a fix someone is supposed to have made but not sure if Multiplay would run it?

I passed it on thanks.

Friday I had the multiple clone bug on the new server aswel as the broken worlds, thats when I phoned the host to fix it before I gave the new IP out.

I was at the spawn & looking at me a few blocks away was garsands

Personally I'd like to see as little Admin spawning as possible. I know I'm one of the few that got my hands on some TNT but I think that's reasonable as right now there's no other way of getting the stuff.

Anything that can be made, should be made, not spawned. Atleast that's my own view of it.

Couldn't agree more but it is up to the server owner to set the boundaries. I've seen quite a bit of this on the previous servers and also on this new one, for me it ruins the sense of community of coming together to produce stuff. I've been sticking to single player most of the time, hoping things will settle down.

How do I go about spawning stuff for myself in singleplayer and keep it daytime? I want to try mess around with some cart stuff.

My server was also very bugged last night but I have now sussed whats needed with a server update.

For me I did as follows:

1) Renewed the Ip Address as for some reason my old one wouldn't accept ping requests on the required port even though it was forwarded correctly and was accepting requests prior to me downloading the new server version...?

2) Download server software and place the world folder in the directory with it.

3) Start the software and let it create new server properties files and banned IP files etc.

4) close the server and copy across the old server settings.

5) Reboot once (after the first reboot blocks seem to be respawning after being broken)

6) Reboot again.... Things were back up and running.

If I did the update any other way, for example, generating a new world file and then overwriting with my world, I would end up with java socket exceptions on connections and an inability to connect in... even using the local ip.

There is Definitely something in how the server software is run up the first time after a new version... also I think the second update might have been something to do with the socket exception error as before the second client update I was unable to get a working client/server connection.

it'll not go back up untill the bug fixes have been released (should be today going by notch's twitter updates hes been working on it since last night/this morning)

Update: The hMod update has now been updated. You can apply these changes by restarting your server, however we recommend you backup your world via Clanforge -> Servers -> Live Control -> World Options before restarting your service. Apologies for the delay and any inconvenience caused, however as stated, we were awaiting a hMod update before updating.

^From multiplay.

So gar would need to backup and restart the server and we should be able to get on.

But we will still have to put up with the new bugs

Notch's tweets today look promising, so far he's confirmed:

Minecart's not destroying bug is due to the lack of Server side Health

Lamps will be related to the Nether light block (Yellow/Gold block)

Notch @blindgeekuk SMP has priority now unti beta. Then, MOAR CONTENT!!

Leaves and vehicles not updating chunks in SMP is getting fixed.
about 5 hours ago via Twitter for Android

He's also created a poll with 2 options for what people would prefer.

Option 1 - He fixes Server side inventory (Dupe bugs etc)
Option 2 - Server side health (animals, mobs, carts etc)

Apparently minecarts are still quite buggy going by the forums. Hopefully they'll get fixed soon enough. I still say we should start on the digging out of the areas needed, using TNT for the tunnels will make it very easy to dig 3x3 tunnels.
