Does anyone know if there is a VW part number for some kind of a kit that converts the Touran (06 plate) stereo gap for use with a single din stereo please?

Thanks,

G

It arrived today and I've just put it in now, but the stereo is constantly lit up. Even if I'm not in the car! lol

I don't know how to sort it, but if I take the face off the stereo is that ok? Or will it still be draining my battery? I don't want to leave it in the car overnight if there is any chance I might drain the battery.

Thanks,

G

I'm a bit noob with all that, I literally just connected up all the black things lol.

Will have to find the keys to get the stereo out again and have a closer look.

I also noticed that my car had two arials for the radio plugged into the factory unit, but I've only been able to plug one into this kit and radio reception is poor :(

It'll be like the golf - no switched live so you'll need to connect one through from the jukebox.

The second radio plug was for the powered antenna, you'll need an adaptor for that - reception is weak as the booster has no power

Thanks for the info.

I don't suppose you have a link to an appropriate adaptor?

When you say I'll need to connect one from the jukebox what do you mean?

In all the Golfs I've had (MK3 thru 6) this stereo has gone in just fine and turned off when it should have. I've got no experience of what needs to be done here.

Is it something Halfords could do for me? (bought the stereo from there a couple of years ago)

Thanks,

G

edit... also does anyone know that this small blue cable on the right is for in this picture?

Sorry, predictive text fail - meant fuse box

Unfortunately these are a bit more advanced than the old cars, no switched ignition as its all digital. The adaptor which works with the digital bus is the best part of 100 quid. It's that or wiring a new one from the
Fusebox which is probably a job for an auto electrician I'd you're not happy doing it yourself

I will just buy a voltmeter and have a crack at it, if it's too much like hard work I'll probably pay someone else to help :)

Cheers,

G

When I did a golf I ran one up from the lighter

Otherwise, you can get fuse holders that add another circuit - they hold the original use and have a wire tail coming off them

This is one of those jobs best left to the experts if you ask me. By the time you buy three wrong adaptors, cut your finger then get the hump and smash the stupid stereo, 100 quid for an install starts looking cheap :D

I think that's just you ;)

By the way, does your Bentley have a private reg beginning with a V?
