Is this unreasonable?

The strikes were well publicised, meaning people could make allowances for them and still reach destinations on time.

Yup. I have to commute to work everyday in London. I live in Milton Keynes I have to get to Westminster. I am never late even if there are tube strikes. Just learn to walk or use a bus instead.

Is he paying for it? I mean physically?

I can understand where he's coming from, he's trying to make you kick yourself into gear a bit more....If you're lately every so often, get up ten minutes earlier, its not hard.

Sorry if its a harsh reply, but you know :p

Chrikey....hell of a trek! I'm not far from MK myself and going to the far sde of london seems more hassle than its worth sometimes :p

Theres jobs in London but i can never justify getting the train everyday

... he's worried I don't put enough effort into school because on one of my reports I got an A Grade with a 4/5 for effort.

Yeah, either this is an exaggeration, or your dad's a *****. But one way or the other, I don't think showing him this thread will accomplish anything in your favour!

there is always an excuse for being an hour late, never an excuse for being a minute late.

quit moaning, get to college on time, and do your homework. Its not difficult.

sorry for the harsh reply, but come on please.

hehe it can be a pain. But work pay for my travel costs so its pretty good :D

I'm up at 5:00am in the morning, train is at 5:59 time I get into work is about 7:20. Then by the time I get home is about 5:00pm. Takes it out of you but the money is worth it so :)

Took me a while to get used to it but the body adjusts.

Am I the only one thinking it's normal to be late to college and have a few days off? When I was at college, I bunked off occasionally and handed stuff in late. I'm not saying it's something I'm proud of but surely.. as a teenager your supposed to mess up a bit. It taught me a few things about life like: if your late to a lesson occasionally that's fine but if you are late to work occasionally, you get a disciplinary. As long as those habits don't follow you into your future career, you'll be fine.

As for your Dad removing you from college, unless he pays your fees he can't do this. College is not compulsory education, you choose to be there. There are people on my teacher training course who hardly ever turn up which is their own loss as they are paying 3k a year to be there.

Enjoy college, it only gets worse in terms of deadlines and having to be punctual!

You are supposed to learn, which is the point his dad is making. Learn that it is not acceptable, then be judged on how you respond.

College was good when I went , turned up late , spent the whole of some lessons just chatting, handed stuff in late, went home early , bunked off, skipped lessons, extra long breaks, etc. Nothing was ever said.
It didn't affect my education imo.

How does your dad know you are late etc? Do they send letters out or are you telling him? If its the latter then maybe you just shouldnt tell him...
