I've just bought a Gigabyte 880GM-UD2H board to go with my new rig (AMD 955, 460GTX, 4GB DDR3). I've never owned a Gigabyte board before so was wondering if someone could either explain or point me in the direction of a guide which shows which BIOS settings I should change (if any).

Will keep the cpu at stock for now, but just want to make sure things like the memory is set to the right timings, that I disable the onboard gfx, and disable anything useless like cool and quiet etc.

I've obviously checked the manual but it doesn't really explain much.

Thanks.

The board will automatically set the discrete graphics card as default so you do not need to worry about that.

Ram - well you have the option to enable the profile in the main overclocking page.

There is not really that much to do or tweak if you have no plans to overclock your CPU. Just enjoy a very good motherboard and a pretty cool gaming rig, I am assuming you game yeah? :D

Thanks 1Day, and yes I do game, been stuck with a 7800gtx so haven't really been able to play anything new for a while now so should be good :D

can i ask why do you think cool n quiet is useless?

i dont see much point in the cpu running at full speed when doing sod all...

But yeah, the bios should aint too bad to find your way around. If you cant find something you know is there just keep clicking around untill you find it. Certain features might be disguised under a different name and the manual should tell you this (even though it sounds like you've already gone through it)
