hi :)
I know i may get a slap for asking this

but how much better is arctic silver 5 over the thermal pads you get on the bottom of stock coolers?

I have some Arctic silver on the way and fully intend to use it, but will it really make that much difference?

cheers

I herd MX-3 is better so thats what I ordered

Which one was it? :p

Generally i dont think it makes a huge amount of difference. Few degrees? maybe.

If your doing some heavy overclocking then it does matter much more, as a few degrees less might allow for a bigger overclock.

Depends on the cooler I would say, some of the high end air coolers come pre-equiped with perfectly good TIM.

I would say It wouldnt make that much difference unless you intend to litteraly clock the nuts off it.

But if you already have some Arctic Silver, then by all means use it.

Possible issue is if you apply it badly it may not be as good as the pre-applied stock stuff.
